Checked baggage

Requirements for checking baggage differ based on international or domestic travel. Please select the type of trip you are taking:
Domestic travel baggage information
International travel baggage information
Checked baggage restrictions to Latin America
Checked baggage restrictions for travel originating in London
Domestic travel baggage information
For travel on United you may check two bags free of charge within the U.S. 50 states and to/from Canada, San Juan, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas U.S.V.I.

The maximum size of each checked bag is 62 inches/158cm (length + width + height).
The maximum weight per checked bag is 50 pounds/23kg each.
United recommends that you arrive at the airport 90 minutes prior to departure to complete the check-in process.
Baggage must be checked at the airport at least 30 minutes in advance of flight departure time except for the following airports which have a 45 minute cut-off time for baggage check-in:
Atlanta, Georgia (ATL)
Charlotte, North Carolina (CLT)
Chicago, Illinois O'Hare (ORD)
Denver, Colorado (DEN)
Las Vegas, Nevada (LAS)
Los Angeles, California (LAX)
New York, New York John F. Kennedy (JFK)
Orlando, Florida (MCO)
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (PHL)
Phoenix, Arizona (PHX)
Sacramento, California (SMF)
Seattle, Washington (SEA)
San Francisco, California (SFO)
Tampa, Florida (TPA)
Washington DC Dulles International Airport (IAD)

If these time limits are not met, United will be excluded from liability.
Each checked bag must have the name of the person traveling on the outside of the bag, and we recommend on the inside as well.
United's 1K Premier Executive, Premier Executive and Star Alliance Gold members are allowed a third piece of checked baggage (maximum of 70 pounds/32kg) free of charge.

well it depends if it is international, then its 70lbs and domestic they allow 50lbs.
But in my case, when i flew with them 2 weeks ago, I flew international, i had 55lbs and they made me pay for excess weight, even though 70lbs is allowed for international.
Flying with United goodluck, i had nothing but problems flying with them. I swear i will never fly united again.
