Im researching neighborhoods in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. Can anyone give me their opinions on the following areas. I keep seeing listings for studios and 1 bedrooms from $800-$1050. I understand that is very low and that's why Im basically asking what's the catch? Im interested to know what you all think about these areas in terms of safety and locality. (Locality for me means, how far/accessible are they from West Hollywood).

I'm thinking about attending Celebration IV in LA this year. I need help finding inexpensive and safe hotel accomodations in the vicinity of the LA convention center. I intend to fly into LAX and take a cab to my hotel and to & from the convention, so cab fair estimates or cab company numbers for the city would be helpful. Thanks!

Is it warm enough to lay out at the beach and swim in the ocean?
I am from the midwest and have never been to the west coast before and am not sure what to pack. What are the best options to travel around the city, I am not sure I will rent a car, is there public transportation? Is it safe? - I will be staying in El Segundo and want to be able to visit other parts of the city like Hollywood, Rodeo Drive, the beaches, etc. Any suggestions will be helpful. I am taking my GF to cali, she is from michigan and just moved here a few months ago, she has never seen the ocean or been to a beach, and I want to take her to a nice one when we stay in anaheim in late april.

I saw a couple like sunset, seal, long beach, etc, but what is the nicest, least ghetto one to go to? Do any of them have a cool pier or anything, like the santa monica one?

money is slim. all i need to know is...what is the cheapest way to move my things from boston to LA? i have a tall bureau, short bureau, twin bed, small TV, snowboard, 2-BMX bikes, clothes, odds and ends...etc etc.

the catch to this is...i also have my own car. 2-door civic, so it won't fit much. and also.....2 CATS!!!
