Los Angeles

It needs to be outdoors, preferably garden and pleasing to the eye, and needs to have room for 40 people to mingle comfortably. Overnight accommodations are not necessary, but would be preferred for 10 people.

I am looking for the garden-home feeling.

Preferably not in Big Bear, since it's a long drive. We would like to find a location no more than 2 hours from Riverside.

We what to know about the night life, best restaurants, shops, attractions, celebrity sightings.....all of that good stuff. If you have any suggestions on hotels too.....that would be nice. Also if you know of any good vacation planning websites that would be very helpful as well. Just so you know, we will be there for one solid week only, we want to do as much as humanly possible. Planning a visit to LA, CA and would like to get out in the nature for a day. Trying to determine whether to visit the Channel Islands or the Catalina Islands. What are the pros/cons of each--which would you visit if you only had 1 day? Many thanks in advance for any answers you can provide!

I will flying over to California in a few weeks, to DisneyLand with the rest of my select treble choir, and I'm afraid of California!
