im looking into taking a job in newport and surrounding cities. i currently live in LA. what cities are near newport (up to 25-30 minutes away) that i can move into that will make me close to LA and close to work at the same time? thanx

I'd recommend Huntington beach as the cost of living is slightly less than Newport and also has better freeway access and even a direct commuter bus route to downtown LA OCTA route 701

Depends how close to the beach you want to be and how much money you want to shell out. Huntington Beach is just up the road and on the beach. Costa Mesa is also close at hand. Further up the coast is Seal Beach and Long Beach and inland you have a large chooice from Rossmoor (very nice) to Irvine (although this is further away from LA). Anyway, if you are going to live in that area and want to get to LA, you've basically got the 405 to contend with unless you take PCH.

Sunset Beach, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa...Costa Mesa is probly the cheapest if you are looking to live near the beach.
