Which areas of L.A. are cheap to live in?

Agreed, cheap equals not safe. Live in one of the outside areas, like Simi Valley, one of the safest cities in the US. I found that before I moved that you can actually rent homes for as much as apartments here. Look on craigslist.org for homes for rent you'll find not much difference in price with some homes from apartments. In a home you don't have to deal with pervy neighbors ogling your girls and human feces in the hallways. Used to live next to college campus.

None that you'd want to live in. It's not cheap anywhere. The cheaper areas are way out east (Riverside, Norco, Diamond Bar) - or north (Santa Clarita) - but - I wouldn't say those were "L.A." - although technically in the county.

Glendale and Burbank. They are much closer than a lot of places they are talking about, and it can be pretty cheap. It's safe too. About 10 - 15 mins. from hollywood.

cheap places are mostly in the ghetto. sometimes photos aren't the best way to look at places you might want to live in since it might have changed through out the years. you should want to check out the LA yourself to get a feeling where you would want to live.

It is considered "cheap" to spend $1,200 for a studio. I do not think theris such a part of town

The slums and there are pleanty of them, your better off in San Diego much nicer.
