A friend wants to visit her daughter (who is a permanent resident, but not US citizen), for 3 mnths, then return home to UK for up to a month, then go back to USA for further 3 mnths, return to UK again for up to a month, and so on........wd she be allowed to do this indefinitely? She's taken early retirement, so isn't employed.....her daughter will be sponsoring 90% of my friend's airfare, spending money, etc..... I'm not convinced that the US government/port authority will allow it.

My boyfriend and I have been talking about where to live outside of california and he suggested Oklahoma. He has relatives out there. And they live in Shawnee Oklahoma. I told him I never wanted to live in that state because they have tornadoes and twisters and all kinds of other things. But he said not in the location his relatives live in. They've never experienced one while they have lived there. But I don't think it's true that there are no tornadoes in that area. There are tornadoes ALL over Oklahoma aren't there? California as far as I know is one of the only states that doesn't ever get tornadoes like that only small little dirt devils. We have earthquakes and fires the worst.

Anyone live in Shawnee Oklahoma can tell me if he's right or not? about there not being tornadoes in that part.

Tornadoes is one of the reason's why I suggsted just staying in california.

With the closing of I-10 in LA I'm looking for an alternate route from Atlanta to Houston. US-59 is also a mess north of Houston with its construction around Cleveland. So far I'm looking at I-20 all the way to Dallas and I-45 down, but that's an extra 200 miles! I'll be travelling over Thanksgiving weekend, and I'm willing to go out of my way a bit to avoid any snarls. I'm renting a 26' penske truck and towing a car, I have no experience with anything bigger than 14', so easier, higher standard roads are preferred. Any other decent US routes I might consider?

I am going to the Verizon Center from Lynchburg, VA. Is it cheaper/more convient to park at a station and ride the metro in, or should I drive in and pay $20 at the Verizon Center? Pros/Cons? Thanks for your help!

Today, I enter a Bronx station and my Metro Card was having problems. I go to the station clerk for help. The clerk is fast asleep with his head leaned back and mouth open. I tapped on the glass to get his attention and he jumps up, startled from his nap.

So, I ask him for his help and he starts yelling at me that my problem is that I didn't pay the fare. He wouldn't even let me address my concern. He continued to refuse to help me and proceeds to help a person behind me. He refused to give me help or even look at my Metrocard. I asked for his name. He refused to give me his name and says, "How about I give you a picture? Will that help?" (sarcastically) Also, he followed me onto the platform and continues to verbally harass me amidst other passengers.

I have never encountered anything like this before. I don't know why this man was completely unprofessional and hostile toward me but I want to file a complaint that doesn't fall on deaf ears. What to do?

I am a student and currently live in Los Angeles and rent, my parents are buying a house by UF and said I could live there for free while I am studying (by myself, they live in the UK). I have never been there and would appreciate people's opinions of Florida, particularly Gainesville.
Thanks

I am taking my boyfriend on a carriage ride in central park in new york city as a suprise. Do I call for reservation or just show up? And where do I go? And how many people per ride can fit in the carriage? And I saw somewhere that it is $34 for 20 minutes. Is that per person or just per ride? ANy information about the carriage rides in central park would be great. We are going in late December

I'm going to be flying home to nz from germany next year and i have to choose between 2 hours at LA or 7 hours at San Francisco, which is better? I've heard that in LA they don't let you leave a room if you aren't entering the states which i don't plan to do for either LA or San Francisco, i have to change airlines as well if that affects anything? I would rather stop for longer if it means i can have a shower and/or a sleep somewhere but if I can't then i'd rather have as short a stint locked in a room as possible, does anyone know what the procedure is for people in international transit in San Francisco and whether I can do stuff?
thanks heaps!

I never been there and booked a room but now not sure if I want to stay there because of some bad rating. People say that the hotel is old and dirty. Is this true? I have 3 kids and wanted to make sure if this is good for family with kids?
