I will be traveling to LA next month and will have a few days of free time. Was hoping someone could suggest a beach that is not crowded. I prefer desolate beaches since they are much more relaxed. Basically looking for the exact opposite of Venice Beach.

Can anyone give a recommendation? Willing to drive about an hour from LAX in search of a good beach.

Thanks!

We are moving to San Jose for work. We would like to get a 1 BR apt. in a safe, fun and lively area. We are a couple in our mid-late 20s and do not have a lot of money. Where should we move? We are interested in living downtown.

I lived in So Cal (particularly the northern cities of Orange County) for most of my life. I happened to visit NYC and DC, but for very short periods. On the contrary, my father stayed a lot at DC, Long Island, NYC, New England (especially the Boston Metroplex) and he has always stated that the REAL luxury is in the east coast cities, and not in the west. Who agrees with this statement??

It's worthy to note that my father wasn't impressed with Colorado Springs.

Had gone to The Avenues mall yesterday and ran into maybe 4 persons from Israel. Was surprised to see that in Jacksonville. If you know there, does anyone know where the community is?

I am visiting New York next weekend and want to go and see a show on Broadway, however I heard a report last week that there was a strike and many of the shows were not running. Is this true and will it still be on next weekend?

Thanks

My fiance and I were traveling to Las Vegas this weekend. It is to be our "pre-honeymoon". I want to wine and dine her, take her out on the town, and really show off my way-cool man skills that I have developed over the course of the last few years. I need to find a really ritzy hotel (Bellagio, Paris, Venitian, etc.) for under $100. I know it sounds like a stretch. Does anyone have inside vegas info to share? I'm okay with lying, cheating, or stealing to get this done. I have a woman to impress!

I live in my native Kentucky and don't enjoy it. People are closed-minded and cliquish. I don't like Keeneland, the Ky. Derby, U. of Ky. athletics, the horse industry, hot browns, Ky. accents, and country music crap (it's okay to not know what they are.) So, I have literally been told and made to feel like I'm not accepted for most of my life.

TEXAS, on the other hand, is great! I have a "Misplaced Texan" bumper sticker on my car, which has incurred hook 'em horns signs from passers-by. I love Lyle Lovett, the Astros, Texas' geographical diversity, corn nuggets, U. of Tx. Longhorns, even Marvin Zindler...oh, and all those pretty women. I get along so well w/ most Texans I meet, especially Houstonians.

Houston is booming, period. Kentucky is still just meeting status quo; it is in the bottom 20% in job growth, employment, income, and education. I want to be an urban planner. I know how to party in a sophisticated manner, yet just be friendly and laid-back.

Is Houston my match?
