There is a "club" here in B'ham that has rented a "U-Haul" truck and has parked it in a parking lot of one of the local malls. The 6 or so people are to meet at the truck at 1:00 am for coffee so they can be first at the doors.
So if you want the best get up early and beat the rest.

It really depend son where exactly you are going. Last year my local news crew showed poeple lined up at Best Buy at 10 pm (the night before) I did it one time. It just was not worth it. If you do not have a specific item in mind and know exactly how much of a great savings it is, I would not do it. If you google black friday ads you can see the major retailers sales. I was not impressed. I want a nintendo DSlite and it has been 149.99 since it came out and they are BRAGGING about that price now. If you do decide to go, make sure you dress in layers and bring a chair, blanket and ipod or something to do while you wait. It helps if you go with a friend in case you have to go to the bathrm etc. they can save your place in line. Good luck either way on finding good deals!

EARLY. Call the store you're planning to go to see when they open, and then plan to be there much earlier than that to stand in line. I was one of the first at a store one year, but I got there way early (a couple of hours) to be sure that I'd be among the first.
I didn't mind doing it that one year, but I don't know that I'd ever do it again since online shopping is so convenient, and for now anyway, I can't think of anything I want so badly to wake up at the crack of dawn to get.
It can be lots of fun waiting in line though if you go with a friend(s) and make a kind of 'adventure' out of it.

Probably right after you eat your turkey dinner on Thursday.
Lines will start forming by midnight in some places. I tried going at 5AM a couple years ago, when I arrived the line was already several 100 people long. This year many stores are opening at 4AM. In some places they are opening at 12:01AM.

I recommend getting your spot around 11pm Thursday night. Last time I've ever camped out at a store is when I had to say in line for 23hrs to get the Playstation 3. It was well worth it though. Enjoy

It depends on what store you are going to. I am going to work at JC Penney during Black Friday and I have to be there by 3:45 am because the store opens at 4 am. You should definitely check to see what time the store of your interest opens...

Don't go to the stores it's to crazy you waste hours in line, just shop online, they have the same deals without the crowds, just get the coupons at sites like http://www.couponblog.net

If you really want to first in line, you better camp out on the doorstep! So I guess the answer would be Thursday!
