It's a complicated problem of what will the revenues be from the new technologies, discovered and undiscovered, and how will the pie be divided...This will be a long strike over a lot of issues, any one or more of which could be made obsolete tomorrow. Remember 8 track tapes and little music cassettes, well how about that ring tone music and jingle on your cell phone or blackberry ?...This will influence other unions as well...very very interesting, it would be fun to listen to these negotiations...

Basically the writers feel that they deserve more money for their creations; and I agree with them. Without the story/ comdey sketches(etc.) being written out, there'd only be improv like what happened on the Ellen Degeneres show. Improv is great, but it's not going to last long. Anyway, I think that any new major productions that haven't been started yet will be put on hiatus until the writers either get what they want or the strike just crumbles.
