I am planning a trip during last week of December and first week of January a trip to Torrance, CA. Can anybody give me some advice about things to do and to see? I am planning to visit San Diego and Las Vegas as well.

Thanks in advance.

I have lived in Torrance for 50+ years. Other than the Del Amo Mall, there is not much to do withing Torrance. BUT...you have very close to the beach, Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan. You can go fishing at the pier(s), visit some fun restaurants....we have Ruby's at Redondo Beach, we have Ricky and Ronnie's in Torrance at Sepulveda Bl and Normandie Ave. Its a great 50's restaurant. The South Bay Galleria is on the border of Torrance and Redondo Beach. We have alot of movie theaters. Knotts Berry farm is just a freeway drive away. So is Hollywood. Go to www.seemyla.com and find some other fun stuff

A lot would depend on where you are going to work as to what to recommend as being close to Torrance. I live in Long Beach, not too far from Torrance. I happen to live on the beach so the area is really wonderful, safe and lots to do. However, there are areas of Long Beach I would not go to so again, it all depends on the area of the city you locate in. If I had children, I would also try and find a good school and school system which would have a lot to do about where I would move. Like any place, there are good and bad areas. I can say for certain that the closer you get to the ocean the better the area because the higher the rents and prices to own a home. It would help to know more information about you and your move to advise you where to look. Age, ethnicity, where you are working, what your budget is for housing, etc.

Things to do in Torrance:
-Go to nearby beaches (Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan)
-Malls (Del Amo, Galleria, Carson)
-Visit more interesting nearby cities

Not too much within the actual city of Torrance but it's easy to get to other places in LA county from there via the 110, 405, or 91 freeways.

Things in San Diego:
-Zoo
-Wild Animal Park
-Beaches
-Sea World

If you plan to hit the Phoenix, Arizona area as well I have a blog that will tell you all about the various spots to hit in Phoenix. Since you have a few weeks before you leave, keep an eye on the blog because I am going to be placing some information on Highway 1 scenic drive in California, as well as cheap places to stay in San Diego, a great restaurant/brewery to hit, and tips for making it through Sea World.
