Alex Rodriguez Statement
After spending time with Cynthia and my family over these last few weeks, it became clear to me that I needed to make an attempt to engage the Yankees regarding my future with the organization.
Prior to entering into serious negotiations with other clubs, I wanted the opportunity to share my thoughts directly with Yankees' ownership. We know there are other opportunities for us, but Cynthia and I have a foundation with the club that has brought us comfort, stability and happiness.
As a result, I reached out to the Yankees through mutual friends and conveyed that message. I also understand that I had to respond to certain Yankees concerns, and I was receptive and understanding of that situation.
Cynthia and I have since spoken directly with the Steinbrenner family. During these healthy discussions, both sides were able to share honest feelings and hopes with one another, and we expect to continue this dialogue with the Yankees over the next few day.

Last weekends scenario: I tee off and slice my ball to the right out into the desert, but still within the OB posts. My friend jerks his to the left out into the desert and into a tree, but still within the OB posts. I call provisional and hit one right down the fairway and the same with my friend. I search for over 5 minutes and can't find my ball, so declare it lost and play my provisional. My friend finds his ball in the tree and it's unplayable and he says he'll just play his provisional. I know that is a rules violation and he needed to play his original, which would require an unplayable drop in the dirt and rocks of the desert and he'd be lucky to get that ball out to where his provisional is.

My question is, after he bombs his provisional, can he immediately call his first ball lost and not even look for it so that he doesn't find it and have to play it? Or is he required to look for it because we saw which tree it went into? And please clarify the time limit, thx!

My local course has a couple of holes where the fairway has a 10-15 yard wide bunker running along the side of the fairway for the entire length, then a cart path, then a creek with red lateral hazard posts. There is about 3 feet of dirt/grass/gravel between the cart path and the creek.

Now if a slice shot is hit and the ball travels over the bunker and the cart path and into the creek, where would I drop my ball?

I am allowed 2 club lengths from the last point my ball crossed the hazard, but that puts me on the cart path. 2 club lengths from the path leaves me in the bunker. Am I supposed to drop in the bunker, or do I drop 2 lengths from the last point it crossed the bunker, or do I drop in that gravel/dirt area? Thanks for any answers!

Why would they subject themself to that type of embarassment? Doesen't anyone understand how A.Rod works??? He want's a championship ring more then anything. If he want's a ring he should go to the Redsox or the Mets.

If the yankee's didn't offer him anything he'd have to go to a team that won't make the world series... if everyone boycotted arod then he would be forced to play wherever the LOWEST HIGH bidder would take him.

Not worth the $1.25 i gotta spend on a slushee with a picture of his ugly mug on the side of it.

Pay-Rod being offered $27.5 million a year seems ridiculous to me. Maybe a player cap of $15 to $20 mill per season?

$27.5 mill to bat .093 in the playoffs........

Down with silly Haley, time to get serious.

Bobby Orr:

1.) Dad’s name was?

2.) His 1st NHL game was against the Red Wings. Did he score a goal that night? How many?

3.) There's a famous picture, where Bobby Orr is flying through the air to win the 69-70 Stanley Cup. What player was tripping him in that picture?

4.) What trophy did he win 8 years consecutively?

5.) In 1971-1972, Bobby Orr signed a contract that was a first of it's kind. What made his contract unique?

6.) Prior to the 1976-77 season, Orr’s agent did not inform him of what important offer?

How does everyone feel about Michel Therrien changing the Pens line combo's 2-3 times a game? I personally think its a terrible move. The Pens have a ton of young talent. I feel they should figure out some lines and stick with them. There may be some growing pains, but 2-3-4 years down the line, they could be talking about Sid-Malkin like Gretzky-Messier.
