Doing some reaction drills, like Frank said, can help depending on what it is you are trying to accomplish. One that I used to do would be have a good kicker move and kick and I would practice moving in jamming his kick or blocking it with one hand and countering with the other. This gets you more in the habit of taking that half a step forward rather than backward, and placing yourself inside of his kick and allowing you to score. Another was side steping and throwing a lead hand ridgehand when my training partner would throw a straight line technique like a reverse punch or lead leg side kick. If you side step to early your training partner followes you and you get hit; move to late and you get hit. With practice you develop your timing and reactions so that you are not there for the technique and are at an angle throwing the hand that is closest to him at his head and scoring on him. A third drill I would practice was I would have my training partners blitz and I would jump up and back throwing a lead leg side kick to their well padded stomach. Once again either to early or to late is no good and you also have to get the kick extended to score. Even if you don't it can sometimes make you opponent gunshy and less aggressive or quick to blitz you.
Besides these drills I would also do some plyometric training exercises to build my explosive speed, reactions, and power. Here is a web sit you might find helpful for this.

concentrate, focus, make your mind relax and then think of a ray of light passing in a dark room (keep your eyes closed),try to interact to the particals of the ray while they are travelling fast, try to move particals from origin to its end each time you'll see it skip ur eyes fast, when u manage to take the partical from start to end u'll see the difference, try it for somedays if it works continue untill u get the desired result, and as for skill game play chess,i'm 100 % sure it'll work
