Imagine the torture that some people would face if they knew that, throughout eternity, the "wrong kind" of people were given eternal bliss by God. Think of how the uncharitable and bigoted would suffer merely by knowing that the very people they hate the most are still beloved enough by God to be also given a place in paradise alongside the "right kind" of people.

Wouldn't that be hell to them?

Okay so in this dream Jesus was in my livingroom but he was dressed normal. I think he had on a t shirt and some jeans, his face wasn't white, and it wasn't black. Anyway, He asked me did I want to see what the power of his blood did when he died. I said yes but as soon as I did, all this blood fell on him and in the dream I closed my eyes. All I could hear was the sound of the blood going everywhere. I couldn't open my eyes. Then I woke up. What do you guys think? I wasn't even scared in the dream, I just didn't think I could handle what he had to show me. Now I feel like a punk.

they usually ask me to prove it. and i wonder how does one go about proving such a thing? even if i didn't do anything which you could perceive as being a "sin", and this is under the assumption that you could follow me around 24/7/365 for the rest of my life, you'd probably still doubt that i never had a bad thought. so why do you suppose so many believe that jesus never even had one bad thought? isn't that kind of hard to prove? how does one go about proving he/she is "sinless"?

THEREFORE, leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God.

There are still widespread negative stereotypes about Atheism in society.

As such, I don't tend to inform people unless I know them reasonably well, and I try and steer clear of the issue if the person in question is devout. Not that I have any shame whatsoever, it is just that many people are very sensitive to Atheism.

I once was given 2 turkeys at Christmas. I had one already and did not need either of them. I knew someone who wanted one but had the other one to be given away. I had no room in my freezer and needed to give it away soon. It was below zero outside so it was safe in my car temperarily. I ran into the grocery store and saw this woman with 3 or 4 young children. I could tell she was not very well off but I really did not want to approach a stranger and offer her a turkey. But I kept seeing her in one Isle and then the check out line. I knew I was being directed to ask her but it was so hard. I bargined with God and said if the lady paid with food stamps I would offer her a the turkey. Sure enough she had food stamps so before she left I blurted out wait I have a proposition for you... smooth move on my part but when I explained she jumped at the chance for the turkey. Have any of you had a moment like this?

If there is NO absolute truth as we are now taught in secular humanism and naturalism what gives you, your government, your religion or lack thereof, any legitimate right to impose your views, ideals, morals, or code of ethic upon me? IF I wish to have sex with whom I please and the ‘other’ is agreeable who are you to say no, regardless of age, or relation? If I work hard but still struggle to make ends meet, and you have an abundance that you don’t use, why should I not be able to help myself to your abundance? I need it you don’t. If you place any restrictions upon my actions as in speed limits, seatbelt laws, age of consent, age to drink, smoke or ‘fool around’ or what drugs I may or may not freely use, are you not ‘pushing’ your beliefs on me? I have seen the term ‘harm no one else’ If I want to snort coke in my home, how does that harm you? If I want to drive 120 on the freeway, how does that harm you? If I want to sleep with you 13-year-old son or daughter, and they readily agree, how does that harm you? If there is no absolute truth, what right do you have to impose your morals on me?

When the time comes when we die, we go before him, and are both forgiven, even though you live your life in servitude of said being, and I live mine to my own purpose, doubting the existence of such a being?

Would you be mad if I got a mansion next to you in heaven, and cranked my stereo?

This is a pure hypothetical, of course....

I was raised a Catholic in a very devout Catholic country in Asia. I immigrated to the States over 18 years ago. I think I got acclimated to the new culture within 5 years but have been struggling with my religion. I'm very confused; the Catholic churches - and I've lived in various states, have been so different than the Catholic churches in my native homeland. For example, the tithe is a new concept for me, to contribute 10% of what I make is uncomfortable to me, and it was not how we did it back home - we'd give what we can. And registering is also foreign to me. I'm in a very bad financial situation right now with more debt than what I make. But I do want to go to mass but feel uncomfortable going and not contributing the 10% which seems to be a big focus in this community I live in. I have two daughters and I really want to get them involved in church but again, I feel that I have to come up with the 10% for me to go. I'm very confused.

I cried when I listened to this song & video by T.Graham Brown. Asking God to turn the wine into water.

My husband has just quit himself & my daughter has just had her 3rd baby.

I believe Jesus turns wine into water all the time. My family plans to do this, to support my husband, this Christmas.

The (rather silly) assumption that there are no atheists in foxholes, basically means that everybody, when looking Death into the eyes, will convert to God in their last seconds on this planet.

If you assume that in their dying moments, all atheists will convert to your religion anyway, why constantly feel the need to tell us about hell? Why warn us? According to the brilliant "no atheists in foxholes" logic, we're all going to go to Heaven anyway, right?

I'm doing a research project so real answers please. For those of you who do not believe there is anything after this life (once you die you cease to exist and thats that), what do you live for? In other words, what keeps you striving to live each day when you know (believe) that at the end of this it would be as if you never existed?

Please dont take the wording in a wrong way, it is for a paper and I think you guys can assume what I'm trying to say if you're not very clear.

As an atheist I can verify that I personally believe in many things, it's just none of them are supernatural beings and/or deities. So I am certainly not a non-believer. So what exactly is this non-believer we hear so much about in R&S?
