I would really like to see the numbers on that.

Anyhow, what I do find surprising is that after the "Big Three" religions are accounted for the rest of them are shockingly small, and that the people who believe in no Gods at all are the world's majority. (16% as of 2005)

The claim that Christianity is 33% is based on counting all the various warring sects as still the same religion, the same for Islam (21%) and Hinduism (14%)

There are more atheists than Hindus, in fact the atheists should count as one of the "Big Three" and seem to be the fastest growing religious persuasion.
If you can deal with it as a position regarding religion.

If I heard that a religion was growing rapidly, I would want to know what it was about. In fact, that was one of the reasons I first began to learn about Islam. After reading and studying it for maybe eight years, I accepted Islam, twenty-one years ago.

Lets get a little serious about this topic as it should be because of its importance.

Religion should be the most important aspect of one's life because it will determine where we will end up in the afterlife. This is not a topic that we should be taking so lightly, one should not change religion like clothes or go with the majority just because it is trendy. Rather one should lean towards a religion because of its truthfullness and authenticity and at that point sticking to your faith in the face of adversity. This would probably explain why Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world and not the size of the muslim family.

Here are a few things that I have pointed out that one needs to be aware of :

1. The Quran (Islamic Holy Book) has remained unchanged since it was revealed 1400 years ago, it is a fact that the Bible has been changed over and over again. No one will deny this including the Christian Theoligens (people who study Christianity to become a priests and preachers). This expains why there are so many different versions of the bible (a new one every so often). If that is the case then how can we call it the word of God? You simply can not!

2. In the Bible, there are numerous prophecies that were already suppose to pass that did not come true, are we calling God a liar? unlike the Quran which has not yet contradicted itsself.

3. It is a fact that Mohammed is in the Bible and that his coming after Jesus was pedicted in there. Jesus himself informed the people of Isreal of Muhammads coming. He is the awaited prophet after Jesus (read your Bibles and inform yourselves).

4. The Quran speaks of Scientific Miracles that science has proven to be true 100%. Other things mentioned science has not evolved enough yet to either prove or disprove them. As I see it, so far so good, and I can't wait until science improves much more to once again prove the word of God to be true the QURAN. In the otherhand, the Bible speaks of things that cannot be accepted by science because it is a contradiction to scientific discoveries and facts. Are we saying that God the creator does not know of his own creations, again calling him a liar?

If God has created the many marvelous things that exist like the universe, planets and everything in it, including us human beings, how can we say that he can make mistakes especially ones so silly that we humans can point out. That is not the work of God, that is the work of Man. (No wonder Atheism has increased so much)

When religious leaders of other faiths, Priests, Preachers, Rabbi's, Swamis, clergy men, teachers from all religious backgrounds are coming to islam is this just a coincidence, I think not! These events are critical in pointing out that Islam is truth and because of their backgrounds they are the most informed (Specialized) in their religion whether its Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism...and with people of all walks of life embracing Islam one has to wonder WHY?

These things that I pointed out are just scratching the surface of the many things that is making Islam the fastest growing religion in the world. The Bottom line is, it's ability to stand the test of time, i.e TRUTH.
In today's age where education is the key and anything that you want to learn about, the information is available to us; this fact should eliminate ignorance. Jesus himself said "Seek for the Truth and the TRUTH shall set you free"

So,before following a religion blindly (just because your family, friends or society is following it) one needs to ask him/herself does this make sense to me? Because when we will stand before God, we will be accountable for our own actions and decisions (free will) and stating "I was just following what my family, community, society said...") will not cut it.

Since the Truth is in front of your eyes and always has been, but it is up to you to seek it.

Yea, yea, I keep hearing this all the time, and the only sources I have gotten for "proof" would be websites that are the Islamic equivalent of the "Family Research Council"(this website is christian, and they agree with the Nazi "treatment" of homosexuality.
I have no religion and would never pick one because some tells me "it's the fastest growing religion", when I know that it is not. (And people are insane and believe a lot of stupid things, why should I listen to them?)

If someone was true to their belief then numbers wouldn't matter so much. It does point out, however, that despite Christians thinking they're the cream of the crop, they're actually not the most widespread religion on earth. So much for that bible verse that says "Every ear shall hear".

Popularity doesn't make a difference. Plus, I'm already in the minority as an atheist.

The numbers are being manipulated anyway. By properly couching it, you can make the same claim for any religion.

Ahhhh so he who dies with the most followers wins? If "forced" to change I would fake it for the sake of my children. But other then that? I wouldn't change my beliefs no. The gods aren't a freaking popularity contest.

Clearly, no...that would be totally inappropriate!

The nerve for someone to just convert to a religion that has the world's majority of believers...

Nah...

That mentality is akin to saying, "Well geez, everyone else seems to have bird flu. I better go hang out with a flock of seagulls and see if I can get some myself."

...And I'll stick to my science in the face of adversity, thank you very much.
