I don't believe in God, but I do (through research and experience) believe in things such as astrology, reiki, psychic ability and mystical experience.

It seems that the universe is a marvelously complex place and things happen here that do not fall easily into scientific understanding. I think many people put what they can't explain under the heading "GOD" and leave it at that. This is obviously a silly, mind-closing thing to do.

In my experience though, there actually seems to be some value in areas such as the ones mentioned above (astrology, etc). But those areas are taboo in the scientific establishment, because they can't be adequately proven, or explored with the scientific method.

It just seems to me that as people are shunning religion and turning to science, they are leaving behind a wealth of knowledge which just may be useful and valuable to personal development. Throwing the baby out with the bath water, so to speak.

ok, I finally got to see the movie, and I dont get why religious people are going crazy about it. (not sure which or how many are)
i guess that goes for harry potter as well, I dont get why you protest these movies. Harry Potter is pure emagination and the golden compass is a clasic story of rebelion against a @sshole power trying to rule everything.

yes i know it was made by an athiest but just about everything in there was action fantasy, a work of total fiction. so why all the seriousness.

last thing, i noticed on Y!A that some religious people said that adam and eve kill god in this. i didnt see any of that, what were they talking about?

In the 21st century, ignorant people embrace this patently absurd and easily disprovable hoax. And this is an age where it would take 30 seconds to do Google the answer that it's a fraud (and mind you, the people who believe it are SITTING AT COMPUTERS). Is it any wonder then that making up some stories about some guy and then presenting them in a book to illiterate goat herders was so successful?

Religion seems to be just a simple study in human gullibility.

Someone said 70% of people are Christians.
I'm thinking more like 7%
When you take into account the two largest populated countries China & India are not Christian based countries.
99% of people i know in Australia had church going grand parents, but there grand children do not have any higher beliefes.
I belive as the world has become more educated. beliefs of a holly creator have gone out the window.
amen

I have met atheists who have sworn that they'd die before they'd allow God in their schools yet they have a christmas tree in their house right now. I've also met religious people who preached the gospel but cheated on their spouse, swore constantly, and didn't read the Bible. Yet they both hate each other and act like each other. Atheists believe that a whole entire universe sprang up from some gasses (where'd they come from?) that exploded, made planets and such and also made a never-ending universe. Christians believe in a God who always was and always will be (but where'd he come from?. Isn't it possible that parts of evolution and christianity could fit together?

The Bible as we know it today, didn't come into existence until after 70 AD but yet many people believes the Bible in its entirety is the word of God. Jesus spoke that if ye keep his word, ye shall have everlasting life. What was Jesus spoken word?

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
John 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
John 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

After all if a baby dies soon after birth or even a few months after birth, when the death is not ruled as foul play, doesn't that mean that the baby wasn't developed properly or the baby had flaws? Something genetic or medically was wrong with the baby, so it could no longer survive.

Even if you use medical intervention, nothing can 100% overcome nature's intention. You can have possibilities of a survival rate, but that is not a garuantee. You can have success for a few years, but nature always wins out in the end.

So isn't it nature's will when a baby just dies suddenly. Since that doesn't hold any religious connotations can I say that to a grieving parent. After all it is the truth, the scientific truth.

If Jesus could walk on water, why didn't he enter the swimming at the olympics and win hands down? surely winning the gold medal in the olympics would have won him a lot of kudos, and he would have all the chicks hanging off of him?

Please pray for me...

....G-D has given us ALL plants and trees to be used for a purpose. It says, "I give you every tree and herb that doth bear seed, for ye it shall be as meat." in the N.I.V. Version, its says basically the same thing.
So how can people who hold so firmly to the teachings/writings within this book be against things like tobacco, opiates and marijuana? Isn't that a little hypocritical and self righteous?
I believe in G-D, but I don't necessarily believe in any man (or woman's for that matter) interpretation of his word. How does one who holds firmly to G-D's word simply pick and choose what they deem is relevant to themselves or the world? What are your views on this?

Okay, when I pray or think about God weird things happen.
When I was younger, going to private school and such these things rarely happened. But as I got older it started.
I ALWAYS pray and try to keep god in my life but these thoughts come in and i dont know what the hell and why they come if im praying i cant help it either the thoughts just come and basically it's questions like ' who am i praying to and what if this person isn't even real '. i even end up finding a lot of stuff bullcrap, i wouldn't say im a christian, actually i don't know, it's who i'm supposed to me. but i stopped going to church a while ago and just tried to rely on the bible and prayer.

and then when i am reading a bible the thought comes in my head that some dude just made this crap up as a means of power and control.

to sum it up it's like im becoming very unconvinced in what i believe in, and some stuff is believable but...
