Hello, all:

Our local full moon group had a Yule ritual this evening (held in advance of the solstice in order to keep peoples' calendars free for the leadup to Christmas), where we honored the Goddess and Her child, the Sun which will be "reborn" at the solstice itself. We raised energy with a chant and used that energy to infuse cakes, mead, and jars of homemade jelly with the power of new hope, light, and inspiration, and spoke of our dreams and hopes for the coming year.

What are you doing for Yule this year? Are you holding a ritual? If so, what do you plan to do (if you're willing to share)?

Thanks to everyone who takes the time to respond.

theists have the courage to make a stand. They choose to believe wholeheartedly in something for which there is no evidence and something that is highly irrational and illogical.

If you run your life by the Bible, be my guest; do NOT, however, tell other people how to run their lives based on what it says in the Bible. Not everyone's Christian, you know.

What would you do if, in your country, somehow someone who was VERY anti-religion came into power, and they decided to implement these rules:
1. All children of religious parents are to be taken away.
2. All religious people are to be tested for mental instability and then locked away in an "internment camp."

What would you do? Would you join the leader, or would you join the resistance?

I'm asking, if anyone's interested, because a similar question was just asked, only using an "anti-atheist" president instead.

I see enough questions about "banning religion" on here. How far would you be willing to see that one go?

QUOTE: "An analysis at the State University of New York at Albany on the well-being of male and female factory workers found that "married persons are happier" in the workplace than those who are not married. This means that married workers are less likely to miss work, are more productive on the job, are more likely to stay employed for longer periods of time, and are more likely to get along better with those they work with than their unmarried coworkers. Their improved health status will affect their productively as well." END QUOTE

At family gatherings, my family prays. And I don't want to pray, because it's not in my religion. And my Aunt, Uncle, and cousin on my dad's side believe in God, and are Christians, they even send my cousin to a Christian school. They go to church on Wednesdays and Sundays for 4 hours. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that I don't know how they are going to react when I tell them that I am an Atheist.

All of the family on my dad's side will probably hate me for being an Atheist.

My mom has already grown a little bit apart from me because I am an Atheist.

So, my question is, How do i tell my family that I am an Atheist? And that I don't believe in God.

...or at least appear as though one is denying their sexual impulses? Because I’m not sure whether or not people actually can deny and repress their sexual impulses and still remain sane. I mean, religions, especially religions in the educated west, seem hell bent on denying their animalistic heritage, so much so that they actually have the nerve to deny proven scientific evidence. Denying that we are animals with animalistic impulses seems like just another of the many denials necessary to maintain the delusion that we are not animals. And is the best way to appear as though one is in control of their sexual impulses to harangue those who appear as though they aren’t in control?

Aarif has heard of Jesus but does not accept him as his saviour.

Johnny was born to Christian parents. He lives in the United States, (Bible Belt region.) His school, his government, his family, his friends, everyone he meets, pumps Christianity into him.

Doesn't he have a better chance of making it to Heaven than poor Aarif, who lives in Saudi Arabia and has been taught by his parents, school, country and everyone he meets that Allah is Lord?

What chance has poor Aarif got? Is it fair that Johnny gets such a head start in making the right choices?
