I am teaching High Schoolers tomorrow, and will be talking about the Von Maur shooting. I will also talk about the shooting in Salt Lake City, the one in Columbine, the Amish school house shooting in PA, a bit about 9/11...I want to get across the point that our days may be numbered, and we don't know when our lives may be over. Be ready...

Any help would be appreciated!

And why?

(Please don't be sarcastic and say "I would pick none because xianity sucks". This is a hypothetical question and I'm sure you are all reasonable adults capable of thinking hypothetically.)

Is this some sort of mantra the Christian community is spreading in order to excuse all of the behavior that is so opposite of what Christ is about. Does admitting you are a sinner to the public relieve the guilt?

The problem is my friend dosen't believe in the Bible or in church but in GOD. What is there for me to do? How can I get her to come to my church? What can I tell her to believe in the Bible? She feels as though the Bible is a book that was made by a person that was not in the time of everything that occured.

An earlier question quoted "atheists" Dawkins and Harris:

Sam Harris said "We need a positive statement of…spiritual experience,…[though without] any endorsement of divisive superstitions."

Dawkins says he's in favor of "mystical spirituality."

Respondents demonstrated a purely materialistic understanding of the term "spirituality" by explaining it in terms of emotional and neurological experience. However, to the religious, a spirit such as the Holy Spirit is not thought to be neurological or physical in any way. Do not atheists not try to impose a materialistic interpretation on a word which signifies something non-material?

A massive comet on a colision course with Earth has been discovered. It's impact 20 months from now is sure to be an extinction-level event, possibly ending all life on the planet. The leaders of your religion state in no uncertain terms that they believe the comet is a divine measure of God's judgment and that the kingdom of Heaven is at hand.

Shortly thereafter, a well-known scientist (an atheist, for argument's sake) reveals a plan that has a very good chance to alter the comet's course. Work on the project begins at a frantic pace.

Would you choose to have the comet hit the Earth and usher in the kingdom of Heaven as your religious leaders have predicted or would you hope that the scientist's project succeeds even if it contradicts what your religion is professing?

I myself feel horrible about all the bad things in this world. I feel like crying sometimes just thinking of people who have abortions, or those who cheat on husbands/wives, people that are murdered for various reasons, etc. It just saddens me all the terrible things in the world. I wish I could do even more to make it stop. I know all I can do is pray and stand up for what I believe and be a light by living my life as close to what God would want me to live like as possible.

What are your thoughts on this?

*just so others know, I'm not perfect and do not claim to be and I am not saying I'm any better than anyone else, I just feel horrible that bad things happen. I feel bad that people starve, have to walk barefoot on the street, etc.*

I am writing my son's baptism invitations and I am looking for a nice line from the Bible to put on them.

I found this one I like: “I have held thee in the palm of my hand” Isaiah 51:16

Any other ones you like?
Thank you!

Due to the fear of potentially being shunned by family members and/or friends, are any Jehovah's Witnesses scared to disassociate themselves who may otherwise freely leave?

even I as a Muslim can recognize the general spirit of CHRISTmas. It's about family and spending time together. Many reunite and forgive at this time. Surely it can't be bad even if it is commercialized. If something is commercialized, why can't we see it as being a benefit for the economy? Nobody is getting harmed in it, and God knows the true intentions of those who do celebrate it. I don't celebrate it in the Christian sense, but I do enjoy the lights and decorations that are all around my city.

Is enjoying this holiday so bad to some? A day off for those who work is a day off, why not just enjoy it and do whatever you want to do? And why be PC about it?

This Muslim, in an effort to bring all people together as a united front against terrorism, hatred and intolerance, wishes all Christians a Merry Christmas.

Is there any problem with that?
