For one it is not "part" of the "Christmas" it is a fanciful story set to music, and has no real bearing in the scriptures, and to the best of understanding He (Jesus of Nazareth) was actually born around the end of October/beginning of November based on how old he was at the time of his execution (33 1/2) that puts his birth around October/November.

So what is the "Christmas" Celebration actually centered around. Roman Sun Worship = Saturnalia, and Norse/Celt Winter Celebrations = Yule. If you research the orgins of the Holidays you will find every commonly celebrated "Religious" Holiday is based in Pagan (most of their roots in Babylonian) Mystic Culture. And since Christians were told to flee from idolatry involvement in these would constitute involvement in idolitrous practices.

Information can be obtained on the origins of the Holidays from Encyclopaedia Britannica so feel free to verify the info yourself.

One that is a song. Two it was simplified to make it essayer for a congregation with better things to do than think about when Jesus was born. They had to do things like work, keep a roof over there head. And not freezing to death during winter. It was changed to Dec for a couple of reasons one being that for year the tradition was to gather a solstice, to exchange gifts and eat at least on good meal with friends. This may not sound like much to us but when you live in a time where winter can kill, and its almost imposable to warm up. It can really Cheer some one up. This brings us to a second reason. It was a reminder of hope during the darkest times of the year.

It's a song, loosely based on the story of the kings from the East who brought gifts to the baby Jesus. The visit of the kings was not at the time of His birth. We're told in the Bible that they went to the home of Joseph and Mary, so some time had passed since Jesus' birth in the stable. Jesus may have been as much as 2 years old at the time of their visit. Two-year-olds can easily smile.

Yes, they do smile. (I don't buy the gas theory; mine smiled way too big). My belief is that babies can still see and interact with those on the other side; possibly angels and spirit guides, also. Children still have this ability until they are up to four years old, at which time they have been influenced by society/parents and usually stop...although there are exceptions.

That is a line from a song and therefore it is not necessarily true. If you want to know the real Christmas story read the Bible.

You what really bugs me? Our neighbors have a nativity scene, and their baby Jesus has a mustache.

Not only that he's wearing an elf suit.

Yeah and another thing Jesus was born in September. All these discrepancies really -- and then there's the damn Christmans music. Jeez !

When my son was a baby, I used to change his diaper every so often (my wife did this chore). True to form, he pissed on me and smiled away while I desperately tried to cover -up the stream of urine. Don't tell me babies can't smile.

I use the facts, like the fact that Jesus wasn't an infant when the astrologers came. The fact that it is Highly unlikely that Jehovah, who denounces mystical practices would use astrologers. The fact that the "holy" star led these men to Herod to notify the enemy of Christ that he was born. Etc.
