Also when you say Christians do you mean anyone who follows Christ or something else? I know how people like to lump everyone into one category. Could you maybe be more specific when it comes down to judging "christians" or talking about them. I am baptist, and no not affiliated with the westboro baptist church in anyway, THEY NEED JESUS.

What is the point of everlasting life? I'm serious! Think about it. What is the point of living forever in Heaven? Are you going to be playing racketball in Heaven for all eternity, sipping Pina Coladas and having breakfast in bed? What is the point of being around for over 1 trillion years potentially?

Since humans naturally fear death, it seems that heaven is just a way to believe you will live on, that death is not final. Just imagine yourself living for 5, 10, 15 trillion years, which is even then, not an eternity. What are you going to do in heaven.....for eternity?

What is the point?

A case to consider:LIFEBOAT morals

A movie entitled Abandon ship depicts in a general way a famous legal cases in American law, U.S. v. Holmes, 26 Fed. Cases 360 (1842). It tells the story of a ship's captain who decided to sacrifice some lives on a life raft. He did so in the face of severe criticism by some of the passengers and at a personal risk to his own life. The lifeboat could hold at its maximum only 14 people; there were 26 people who survived the shipwreck. The situation became desperate when a severe storm arose. There was no immediate hope of rescue; on the contrary, it looked as if help would come only after a number of days or not at all. His decision in the face of severe protest was to put some of the survivors over the side, They were outfitted with life jacket. His criterion for choosing was the "survival of the fittest". He anticipated that there would be a long hard row to land, a journey of maybe several weeks. Thus, he chose those who had to leave the boat:

In this day in age mankind should well understand that all life is equally priceless. Will you not drop your weapons/religions and respect one another as living beings? Will you see someone as a neighbor and not an enemy because of politics and religious teachings? Will you lay down your weapons as I have done and search for peace and enlightenment? I lay my weapons before you at this moment, I shall no longer be a judge but be a living being and enjoy my life. Who among you shall joy me in obtaining your happyness and dreams?

I have noticed on here that if you ask a question relating to a part of the bible, the responses from Christians will often be vastly different. That to me does not say much for its teaching if it allows many different meaning to each part. How can it be the word of god if its so ambivalent? Would a god not have got his message across a little better?

Rev.11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

If you are a church going person with a disability what do you pray for?

2007-12-16 23:22:36 · 6 answers · asked by Anonymous

This is about Seventh Day Adventist...
conscientious objector...
and MEDAL OF HONOR recipient DESMOND DOSS...
and events that occured during WW2 invasion of Okinawa

"Time to go men," Lieutenant Goronto told his troops. Doss had prayed, finished with his Amen, and the rest would be in the hands of God. The soldiers struggled up the incline, reaching the sheer face that comprised the last fifty feet. Naval cargo nets were used to scale its surface. Upon reaching the summit, Company B was immediately pinned down by heavy enemy fire. To the left Company A was fighting to scale their sector as well. The first five men were killed and casualties mounted to the point that Company A could proceed no further. Headquarters radioed Company B for a report of their own casualties. So far there had been none. So the order was given that Company B would have to take the escarpment themselves.

Isn't taking away religion from society the same as tearing down "the Hover dam"?

"yeah genius, tear down the barrier by doing so we'll be free; the water won't drown us, we'll just get wet"
I'd rather worship the dam than be damned, you know what I mean?

Anyways: tell me why or why not and write your age after your answer.

The members of this church are typically referred to as "Mormons". I just wish I could understand why other Christians who profess to love Christ, would persecute another religion who believes and loves Jesus Christ. It doesn't make sense. Can anyone shed some light on this?

The removed books are sometimes referred to as the "Apocrypha." They appear in Catholic Bibles, but not Protestant Bibles.

2007-12-16 22:48:16 · 5 answers · asked by Skepticat 6

Why doesn't a book written by an omniscient being leave you with a sense of wonder and amazement? If you are reading a book written by the all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving creator of the universe, wouldn't you expect to be stunned by the brilliance, the clarity and the wisdom of the author? Would you not expect each new page to intoxicate you with its incredible prose and its spectacular insight? Wouldn't you expect the author to tell us things that scientists have not been able to discover yet?

Yet, when we open the Bible and actually read it, we find it is nothing like that at all. Instead of leaving us in awe, it leaves us dumbfounded by all of the nonsense and backwardness that it contains. If you read what the Bible actually says, you find that the Bible is ridiculous. A book that advocates senseless murder, slavery and the oppression of women has no place in our society today.

In my particular faith in Paganism, Magic is neither black nor white. Your karmic retribution (or "three-fold-law") comes from your intent, not the "colour" of the magic you are performing. What are your views on "black" vs. "white" magic?

DISCLAIMER: This question is asked of Pagans/Wiccans/Witches etc. If your only comment is to say "It's all BS" or "It's all Satanist", please, save your energy. Thank you.

article 2270 of the roman catholic communion states:
"Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life."

roman catholics however teach that the sacrament of baptism is necessary for the soul to attain salvation. (the catholic practice of infant baptism - baptising an infant before she can consent to the sacrament - depends on this idea).

2/3 of conceptuses are shed at the first menses after intercourse has taken place.

if infants must be baptised, and the conceptus is a human being from the moment of conception, can someone give me a link to the roman catholic rite for baptising sanpro (or directly baptising the menses, whichever is the easier)?
