When the chips are down, you know you can count on God. So you pray.
Kinda makes you wonder why you don't acknowledge Him unless you're in great need, though.

This is easy! I say you're on the right track! Here is what financial teacher Dave Ramsey has to say, who, by the way, has a credit score of ZERO because borrowing money just to build up your debt score is stupid! Anyway... :-) Step One: Save up $1,000 in your emergency fund... EMERGENCY... don't touch this money unless you have to. Step Two: Pay off all your debt! Use the debt snowball... pay off the smallest one first then put that amount towards the next one. It sounds like you don't have too much debt which is GREAT news! Step Three : put away 3-6 months of expenses in your emergency fund. Step Four: Invest 15% of your income for retirement there are more steps (7 total) that I can share with you if you want, but for now just know that even though your credit score is low, if you save up and pay cash, you don't NEED a debt score... that puts all the power in your hands!

That's good,though , that deep down you still believe i something .
Many years ago, my brother had a bad accident and 'died' several times. When he was back in the land of the living, he thanked mum for not getting round to having him Christened. His theory was that God didn't know which way to send him (Heaven or Hell) so He sent him back !

I think you are really a true Christian , you don`t brag , don`t show or advertise instead you prided and humbled yourself of not being one. A true and a committed christian , show`s in how he thought and act , what you did , is a direct commune with God , and that`s enough.
Christians sometimes prouded themselves by going to church every Sunday , attending ceremonies fit for their religion , but after doing these they are in the same habit of letting people down , gossiping , laughing at somebody else mistakes etc...these things are not a true christian doing . Putting love in your heart is enough , to make you fit to live and capable of being in this world alone , no matter what religion you are in.

It's just a way of making yourself feel secure and able to cope. Also, if your parents were Catholic and did this type of thing you may have been conditioned to do it too. Don't worry mate, just carry on if it makes you feel better. A lot of people do it at times of need.

Force of habit.
I was raised Catholic but left the church the same day I left home.
However, when it seemed that we would lose our youngest in childbirth, you wouldn't believe how fast I started saying the "Hail Mary"...just out of habit and because she was a mom, too.
Like I said, force of habit...it becomes ingrained in you when you are raised in the church, even if you no longer believe in the tenets.

like they say, there are no atheists in fox holes.
hey, you obviously believe in GOD, otherwise you wouldnt cross yourself or pray in times of danger. since you know he's real, why not have a relationship with him. go to mass. make time every day to pray. your life will be better. youll have the peace of mind knowing that GOD is always with you. when you get into those dangerous situations, you can pray and know for certain that He hears you.

Catholicism is your fall-back position, your default setting, an ingrained part of your belief system. Whilst you're not willing to commit to regular church attendance and all that being a 'good Catholic' means, it gives you comfort in times of stress.

Habit plus fear Elric. It is surprising what we will consort to when we are in fear of our lives! Maybe too, deep down, you believe but do not put it into practise.
