Do you really think in this day and age it is necessary to carry on these Barbaric practises....

A blood fest in the name of God.

What kind of God would expect this?

My GF is Islam but has no problem being Vegetarian.

Oh dear I ruffled a few feathers...OK God ( or someone) may have asked Abraham for an animal sacrafce...BUT where does it say that this is meant to be done every follower every year..

This is an uncivilised practise...and one day when humans are more enlightened..it will be illegal..that goes for the Turkey Gobblers too.

The problem is that religion caters to the desires of humanity. And, let's face it, humanity is selfish. How does this relate to sacrificing to a so-called unselfish "God"? Well, it corroborates humanity's supposed need and moral right to kill non-humans.

Well, in no religion is not eating meat wrong. Meat is there to eat and no religion forbids it.

2. Muslims do this in rememberace of Ibrahim who was going to sacrifice his son for God, and then God placed it with a lam instead. As God was testing his trust in Him.

3. Muslims sacrifice the lamb and distibute it to 3rd world countries. It is part of chairty. As you know, there are millions of people out there that do not even get a meal a day to eat and by doing this you are satisfying some of there needs. Charity plays a big part in Islam.

4. You ask which God would expect this?.... well i'd like you to ask the Christians which God would ask for his 'own sont' to be killled? for his own father to forgive them? does that make sense? Does it make sense that God becomes his own son then kills himself to forgive mankind? what God would expect that?

You GF cant be that much of a good muslim if she has a boyfriend. Is that islamic? Why dont you go sort your own issues out before you start on others.

It is done kindly, I am sure. What is the difference if they sacrifice a lamb and have it for dinner or Americans sacrificing turkeys for thanksgiving. Animals are sacrificed every day in all parts of the world for food.

You sound like you have issues with people eating meat anyways. If animals were not sacrificed for food they would still multiply and overrun the world and there would be no room for people. There also would be no vegetables left for humans to eat because all of the animals would have eaten them.

I think you might misunderstand sacrifice.
It doesn't mean just offering a bloody sacrifice and then wasting the animal.... it means you give your best animal (that's your sacrifice) and the meat is to be given to those less fortunate and hungry & poor.
The term sacrifice has lost it's original meaning, and has now become associated with grisly satanic rituals... that simply isn't the case in Islam. Sacrificing is your way of giving, you sacrifice from your bounty. The animal's life is sacrificed to feed people.
A muslim can be vegetarian by choice, and that's aceptable, but Allah has allowed eating animal flesh for those who choose to, as long as it's killed properly and in the name of God.

I'm Vegetarian for the health aspects, not for the animal. If God wants a sacrifice, he created the animal, so he has every right to ask for it.
