...shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
Deuteronomy 23:1

Bit harsh, isn't it? There can't be many men who haven't been kicked in the 'stones' at some point in their life. And frankly, if I'd had my 'privy member' cut off, I'd be expecting a bit of sympathy.

I suppose it's the actual learning of God's word and sincerely having Jesus in your heart that grants you such a beautiful passage into his kingdom. But what if one were to DVR a sermon by Mr. Osteen of Lakewood Church and watch it at a more convenient time, you know, when your favorite football team aint playing. Would that count or make Christians feel like I'm not doing my all to be in God's favor?

First of all, let me explain why I am asking this question. I am a strong Christian who happens to be Presbyterian. I love to discuss and debate the Bible. I do not think that I am better or that my beliefs are better than other Christians. I feel the more I know and understand my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ traditions, I can then become a better friend and servant to them. Now to my question. I have some close Catholic brothers and sisters (whom I love deeply) that I have posed this question to and they could not give me a direct answer.
The question is: Why do Catholics still say that Mary was a virgin her whole life? Where does it state this in the Bible?

Sources from the Bible to look at:
Luke 2:41-52 shows that Mary & Joseph were still married when Jesus was 12 years old. I don't think that two married people would go that long without having sex.

If there is no moral law giver how can there be a moral law? Does atheism boil down to ethical realitivism? What is right and wrong is left up to peoples say-so. In my mind if torturing people for fun is right then its morally just for me. Right? If you say No then on what grounds do you make that judgement?

(Playing devils advocate here I'm an atheist myself. Its so easy to pick apart Christians I figure I'd give my fellow free thinkers a challenge)

If Heaven had to be like that and everything that could be done and had in Heaven all had to be OK'd by God first, than Heaven already sounds like a drag. I have no problem praising and thanking Him for something great, but to have all my personal freedom taken away from me and it had to be like "Watch it, you're in my world now", that'd suck. Being here might not be as physcially pleasant as Heaven all the time, but at least here, you can do whatever you enjoy doing and without having God "breathing down your neck". Heaven sounds like a place where God "breathes down your neck every second of the day and will send you to Hell the second you step out of line".

I don't like this interpretation of Heaven at all!

If so, they why don't you commit suicide? Not to be morbid or anything but why would you stay on earth when you could be in heaven?

They all sit down and have a non-alcoholic drink.
Moses turns to Jesus and asks "How you doin'?"
Jesus says "Fine," then turns to Muhammad and asks "How you doin'?"
Muhammad says "Fine," then turns to Moses and asks "How you doin'?"
Moses says "Fine"...

Now, this is not funny and it is an awfully boring story. You won't ever see it in bookstores or at the movies. But, isn't it a much better example of what religion ought to be?

..."I hadn't considered that in my ___ years of living in this world. Your __ word post here made all the difference, I am bowled over by your logic, and I will now renounce my deity and join the ranks of the faithless. Thanks! You've won a convert, I'm changing sides!"

or any other such greeting?
Surely, most people do realize that Christians are celebrating the birth of Christ at this time of year, and it is just silly to get offended if a Christian wishes you "Merry Christmas"...but isn't it just as silly for Christians to get offended when offered a different holiday greeting?
I do agree with the poster (from my last question) who says he gets offended by "Season's Greetings"...to quote...
"what the hell does that mean, anyhow?"

"Thieves cut off man's 'holy leg' " BBC news article.
"Police in southern India are hunting for two men who attacked a Hindu holy man, cut off his right leg and then made off with it.
The 80-year-old holy man, Yanadi Kondaiah, claimed to have healing powers in the leg."

Or are the elements of greed, violence, and religious faith all too easy to believe? (and horrific when they combine!)

like absolute morals in religions?
something finished, static? Even if one could know the absolute, why should that imply that one is finished or that one knows all, could the absloute not also mean that you realize that itself is in change?
So that there can never be any perfect understanding, never any end to reach.

Would that destroy the absolute?
or at least the absolute mentality that many religions especially embody.
