Roger Oakland has written a book (an expose') on these two movements, proving the deceptions. Has anyone read it, do you know where I can get a copy?

The only thing most people have against the emerging church movement is that it attracts 20 somethings and seekers who would never set foot in traditional churches, often because they wouldn't fit in - bikers, tattoos, piercings, etc (though this is changing, thankfully- they are being welcomed in more and more churches).

So, traditional churches are feeling threatened by the flight of their members to non-denominational churches, and further threatened by the rapid growth of emerging churches who use non-traditional and even very unconventional methods to reach people for Christ.

Frankly, I think the emergent church has a lot to teach traditional churches about evangelism and mission. For way too long we've spoken a language foreign to most modern people, and it's time that we let go of these sacred cows we've created in sanctuaries, 19th century hymns, liturgies, pews, stained glass windows, church bulletins, etc. and instead grab hold of the gospel and the great commission.

Uhhh, can you tell I am passionate about this??!!

The bottom line is, in emergent churches, people are embracing the gospel of salvation and glorifying Christ.

What could possibly be wrong with that?
