..."I hadn't considered that in my ___ years of living in this world. Your __ word post here made all the difference, I am bowled over by your logic, and I will now renounce my deity and join the ranks of the faithless. Thanks! You've won a convert, I'm changing sides!"

I kind of took that viewpoint in my first few months here. Christianity has been around for centuries, and most of the arguments used against it are anything but new. People think they're being clever and original, but in reality most of us Christians have heard it all before.

Yet now I don't think that's a valid reason to just ignore the question. If I think they're asking it honestly and really want to know my opinion (instead of just baiting, which sadly happens more often than not) I'll do my best to give an honest answer, providing I have one. If they just want to make me look stupid then I won't bother, because frankly it's not worth my time.

Is it not possible to have a decent conversation in this forum with out all the faith vs atheist bashing going on.....

Aren't most of us adults here?

This kind of BS is getting really old.

Just because one doesn't have to look at someone, when one is on the computer, does not give one the right to be judgmental, arrogant, or holier than thou. Many things that are said in this forum, would not DARE be said, if they were looking that person in the eye. It's just easier to be that way when you are hiding behind a computer. COWARDS

What ever happened to open honest discussions, with out bashing the opinion of others? Leave your ego at the door Please. It is soooo immature.

Thanks, that would be nice, wouldn't it.

sounds okay but how about this---when I die and I go to heaven because I believe in God to be real I have not lost anything here on earth however if you do not believe that God is real where will you go when you die? The reality of this is that he or she cannot say heaven because this takes a person to accept---believe in Jesus and the other alternative is hell and no one wants to go there even if they say "I'll party with my friends" hell is a place that is described as a place where there is so much torment (hell was not made for people it was created for the devil--Satan and his followers) and the worm never stops..... Every belief system has some kind of interpretation of hell but once you study them you see how they are not realistic---they have paths or ways to escape their idea of hell.

Not believing in God is also also faith-based belief. Science is SUPPOSED to be based on FACTS. And the fact is, there is no more evidence that humans evolved than there is we were designed by God. Since neither are based on fact, they must be based on something else...namely FAITH. The "faith-bashers" likely have just as much faith that there is no god than you have in God.

So I would just tell them, "I find your faith very interesting, but I'm not shopping for a different religion right now".

You know full well that telling them off or attempting to make them look stupid serves only to feed your own fleshly desire. Get revenge on them almost. You also know that Jesus teaches to handle ourselves better than that and to turn to the Holy Spirit when we don't know what else to say.

This is very 'Stephen Colbertish'....... at any rate, you could respond that way but I think it's nice to stand up for yourself in a genuine way even if the questioner doesn't want to really hear it.

I don't know whether to laugh at or be saddened by your question, as it's blatantly obvious it goes both ways, but so many of you can only see one side.
