Here in Germany you must register your religion with the state and you are taxed on it. For me it would amount to roughly €85 per month (a little over $100). I am of course registered as having no religion (atheist). Would this seperate the true believers from the wannabes in Christianity/Islam etc. Would such a thing reduce the number of non-believers.

Germany has a population of 82,425,000 and 41 - 49% (33,794,250 - 40,388,250) are atheist/agnostic.

Some outerspace being sending life to earth millions of years ago or the bibles version of events.

Im not a scientologist, but its funny how they are percieved as nutters but christianity is accepted.

I got into a heated discussion this evening at work about this topic. My Co-Worker is a devout Christian (although a very hypocritical one) and he made the claim that since Christmas is about Jesus no one but Christians should even celebrate it. I countered of course with the obvious point that Christmas falls on the same day as a much earlier celebration. He would have none of that though. He was quite ready to deny it completely. So i changed tactics and asked him what he was planning on doing Christmas Eve and Day. Turns out he like many "Christians" is going to get nice and drunk on Christmas Eve and then engage in the time honored tradition of receiving and handing out Gifts. I am wondering if you consider gift giving and receiving to be honoring your Christs birth? That is giving out expensive Gifts to family and friends and receiving the same in return. Would your Christ not prefer that instead of getting drunk and being greedy that you help out the needy?

Remember to take time out of every day to recharge your spiritual stores in whatever way works best for you. For me this is an hour in :Eucharistic Adoration although this morning I found a special recharging moment in a hug from a gentle elderly lady at the nursing home where I work. God comes to us many times where we are.

An example of her feelings, "— how painful is this unknown pain — I have no Faith — I dare not utter the words & thoughts that crowd in my heart — & make me suffer untold agony."

Thank you in advance for your openness.

I personally find atheism better, more logical than a religous lifestyle. I've been atheist for 8 yrs and before that I was raised roman-catholic, then protestant, and went Buddhist all on my own(no bad life experiences or anything). I am even curious to learn about Islam.

So, what do you think led people like me away from your religion? Would they choose atheism or another religion? What other factors are there besides society and family?

Or is it just a trick used by Muslims to make people who critisize Islam feel bad?

I favour the latter seeing as how I regulary get called Islamaphobic for pointing out obvious errors and scientific inconsistancies in the Qu'ran.

This is a good article:

almost puts him in the same league as Buddha, Krishna, Allah
and the other gods (which are not gods at all)

The god of the Bible is God. the only God. no matter what anyone else calls him, He's God. People in other languages would call him God. in the Greek they would call Him "theo", in the french "dieu". calling Him God doesn't lessen His importance or authority. all the other peoples in the world won't call him Jehovah they would call him something else. so what's the big deal about calling him Jehovah. There is only one God. all others are false.

I personaly think we need God to step in and set things right.
In the mean time would not stoning these people be a good first step ? (at least they won't do it again)
What about a flogging of the Judge as well ?

Matthew 27:5 And he [Judas] cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

Acts 1:18 Now this man [Judas] purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out.

I mean if he hadn't of, then Jesus wouldn't have died for our sins and we would all be going to hell. But then again, we wouldn't have had a chance to avail of Jesus sacrifice so it wouldn't be our fault, so we might not have to go to hell after all. So maybe Judas shouldn't have betrayed Jesus because since he did, Jesus died for our sins and all those guys who didn't accept him when they heard about him, are gonna burn for eternity...

It kinda does your head in...

We can take the atheist and agnostics in groups to see that:

The genesis creation is true

That Moses really parted the red sea and pharoah army drowned in it

That the battles and wars in the Bible are true.

That God did destroy the cities of Sodom and Ghamorrah

That Lots wife was turned into salt

That The Noah flood really did happen

That Jesus was a real man

Jesus did real miracles, including walking on water.

That Jesus was crucified

Jesus did rise

And in general that the whole of the Bible is true? How long do you suppose till someone makes a working, time traveling machine?
