Referring to witchcraft and Pagan related magic.

Do any modern day religions believe in magic?

And if they do, what does it usually involve? Is it like potions and spells and such or something different?

What is "magick" and how is it different?

well people at my church have asked me to present a science experiment thingy and correlate it somehow to the bible

for example, a couple of years ago some other guy at church did this thing where he had 3 eggs and 3 cups. He put a different substance in each cup which made each egg float differently. One egg was on the bottom, middle, and top.

As for the bible part, he explained that God wants us to be either warm or cold but not lukewarm.

and ive been thinking about this foreverrrrr and have come up with absolutely nothing )=

sooo it would be pretty awesome if one of yall could help me think of something

thanks again=)

I really hate this...I am constantly stuck in religious thoughts...whenever I have a few minutes to myself when I'm not working, being with my family, etc., my thoughts always go back to religion. It seems I have been obsessed with religion ever since I was about 21...I'm 29 now...I go through constant phases of being a devout Christian and then go through believing in forms of Paganism as well as switching to Agnosticism and even Atheism at times and then reverting back to Christianity...This is just driving me crazy! It's just a never-ending cycle and I don't know what to do anymore. It just feels like I'm trapped and there is no escape. This is the truth that has set me free??? I don't think so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Children only know through their hearts what "God" is.
(To my Atheist friends: I'm talking about children who have been told there is a higher being, this isn't about whether or not they would believe in one in general- not the point here)

Jesus said "blessed are little children".

I remember as a small child who had been told there was a God but not taught anything, I had a very simple concept of "God"- love, power, protection.

If children die, they are said to go to heaven, even though they may not know about Jesus, or understand or anything.

Are we obligated to learn dogma as we get older, or is that view of God good enough? If it is good for a child, and children are more blessed, why would that stop being good as an adult?

What if there are adults that still have that simple view- do you think God would punish them?

Please explain your thoughts, and if you quote a Bible verse, please explain the significance.

Don't get me wrong, I love R&S. And i will never leave ya'll. But I think its time I expanded my horizons and tried my talents in other areas. As long as it's not math, sports, or cars, I think i could contribute just about anywhere.

What are the good categories here in Answers? Anywhere that has as much spirit and diversity as the religion section?

If you are my contact, tell me where you think my talents will be most appreciated.

I am a Christian and i do beleive in a literal interpretation of the Bible. I ask that only serious answers be given from a Biblical perspective. I would prefer only students of the Bible answer. There are actually more than a few questions here.
1. What made humans sinful? (not the sin of eating forbidden fruit but what inner mechanic made us sinful)
2. How did sin come to exist? God created all things. A long held Christian belief is that God can creat nothing bad (evil). Sin had to originate somwhere.
3. Were Adam and Eve created with or without the disposition to sin? Where did this disposition come from? Is it inherent in Human Free will?
4. Was it sin when the Angels in Heaven rebelled? I am going to assume, yes. So, did sin exist before man?

Each time it's mentioned I see a lot of people pointing out gleefully that "it's just a theory" and that The Bible is Fact. Isn't it about time Darwin's work was taught as scientific fact?

The burning bush, the ten commandments, the escape of the Israelites, talking to Jesus, ending and rebuilding cities, I could go on and on and on. How come I don't see heads and tails of him anymore? We had how many years of slavery? Religious executions? Does he only care about his Israelites? Which leads me to another point, how come he didn't help any of the other 100's of other civilisations that existed at the time? It's curious, God is supposed to love everyone, but it seems he only loved a few select people in a certain time.

And don't play the free will card, because he didn't respect the Israelites right to free will, as obviously illustrated in the Bible.
