David, I understand where you are coming from, but why would God, an all-powerful being (he can do anything and everything) NEED to sacrifice his son. Surely there were infinite other actions he could have taken, why bloodshed?

who can know the intent and willingness of God? Worry about your own heart and your own intentions.

Again, no such thing in Judaism as a Messiah who serves as a pagan virgin man-god blood sacrifice for sin. Judaism has always held that the Messiah is born in the usual way from a married Jewish man and wife, grows up, marries, has sons to whom he leaves an inheritance, and lives a good long life.
He fulfills all the 16 or so original prophecies given by God on Mt. Sinai (which Jesus didnt do) the first and only time. There is no "second coming". He is not killed for anyone's sins, this is a pagan practice adopted by the Church. He is not worshipped as God, since he is a human being.
Lots and lots of differences between Christianity and Judaism. That's just a couple.

Sin can only be forgiven through a blood sacrifice. It was Christ who volunteered, He laid down his life. It was also a sacrifice that had to be perfect. Since Christ is God's son and not Joseph's, his blood was not tainted with sin. But since God cannot be destroyed, Christ had to take a mortal body to die. Thus the seed of the woman. and the sinlessness of the blood of God, a perfect sacrifice.

We have hearts that rebel against God.
And because of our sinful hearts, we cannot have peace with God, who is holy.
In His great mercy, God the Father sent God the Son, Jesus, to be born------Jesus is fully God and fully man. He had to take on flesh so that He could represent us as the only One without sin.
Since the beginning, God's way was: without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness of sin and the payment of sin is death. So that is why Jesus died---to make the payment for sin. No one else could do it.
He was buried and arose from the dead. His death only shows us in part how horrible sin is. It is destructive and keeps us from having peace with God. Those who acknowledge they are sinners and accept God's way are given peace with Him and eternal life.

That is Gods awesome power...that he chose to live among us as a man and died on a cross in obedience to the Father and to demonstrate his eternal love for us.
As parents we sacrifice any things to provide for our children and so does God.

here's my take on the Jesus story... religions are deceptive and their god is all lies... this Jesus would have found that out, and told the world... it was a successful execution because it was done before he had a chance to tell the world what he knew... sin is action against the church, he died before he could sin...

I guess you might receive some guesses but I don't believe anyone on earth is able to answer that question. You either believe that God has a reason that we may not understanding or you don't.

And that makes it the most perfect sacrifice and the greatest proof of God's love to mankind. For he was able to give up His only begotten son to reconcile man to God again.
