A mother of 2 pre-school children is in her 3rd pregnancy.

She has diabetes, and because of its advanced state, physicians say that if she continues her pregnancy, she has a 30-50% chance of dying, and leaving her current children without a mom.

There is negligible risk from an abortion (less than 1% chance of serious complication) if the procedure is performed within the next 2 weeks.

How should she weigh the factors in making her decision?

Should the government have a role in helping her make this decision?

What would your church say or do when she next attended with her family?

during a talk with an all knowing atheist and a god loveing true christian baptists, two things about my religion came up that until now I did not realize to be true.

aparently we are one of the most sexist religions in the world, because the bible is sexist and we dont allow women to be priests, and we force pregnant women to call the "mass of tissue in her stomach" a baby, who knows it could really be an ostrich right?,

however on further enlightenment I found out that we also worship mary and other saints, including females, forgive my simple mind but if we were sexist against women, why then would we sink so low as to worship them, and their ilk?

please help this poor and confused catholic

Suppose you are running out of a burning building, inside of which are still (a) your six-year-old sister and (b) a small jar containing ten human embryos. You can save either your sister or the jar of embryos, but not both. Whom would you save, and why? (Justify your answer.)

**I am pro-life and somebody asked me this question in a debate. Although I think that I would save my sister, I'm wondering if anybody has any insights on what is the morally right thing to do in this situation.

Some data suggest that the number of new converts each year is matched by the number of members who go inactive. For example:

http://www.gc.cuny.edu/faculty/images/image019.gif

(If you're an active Mormon, you must know full well that general authorities themselves are deeply concerned about the growing numbers of inactive Latter-day Saints--suggesting that the data above are believed even by them.)

Isn't this a problem for people who believe Joseph Smith was a prophet?
