1. Speaking for the most defensless, the unborn, who are often discarded at whim.

2. Speaking for workers rights. For example, in 1891, Pope Leo XIII issues "Rerum Novarum" ("On the condition of workers"), which endorsed the right of laborers to organize. In the 1960s the Vatican II document "Gaudium et Spes" reaffirms the church's commitment to the rights of labor flowing from the dignity of the human person.

3. Speaking against euthanasia which pretends to care for people, but which sees the growing number of elderly and disabled people as intolerable and too burdensome.

From Vatican II:

"Whatever is opposed to life itself, such as any type of murder, genocide, abortion, euthanasia, or willful self-destruction, whatever violates the integrity of the human person, such as mutilation, torments inflicted on body or mind, attempts to coerce the will itself; whatever insults human dignity, such as subhuman living conditions, arbitrary imprisonment, deportation, slavery, prostitution, the selling of women and children; as well as disgraceful working conditions, where people are treated as mere instruments of gain rather than as free and responsible persons; all these things and others like them are infamies indeed.

"They poison human society, and they do more harm to those who practice them than to those who suffer from the injury. Moreover, they are a supreme dishonor to the Creator."

devil, devil, human weak point, the concern of celibacy... take your %.. that's a dreadful project that has got here approximately, yet as an interloper to Roman Catholicism, i will say without bias that persons could be stated from portray with too super a broom. not each and every Roman Catholic priest/nun you meet is a pedophile. There are over one thousand million Roman Catholics on the planet... there are guaranteed to be some undesirable apples. As to why clergymen/nuns... the devil tempts those attempting to do stable better than those that are basically coasting with the help of spiritually or those that are doing evil. Its a conflict with many humilitating falls into temptation earlier the penitent helpful properties the flexibility and journey to triumph over their passions. that's why St. Paul suggested that "yet while they can't comprise, enable them to marry: for that's greater proper to marry than to burn." (a million Corinthians 7:9) Celibacy isn't for each guy or woman, all of us be responsive to this from the Scripture above. the unhappy project is in Roman Catholic theology, in case you have a deep love of God and a prefer to serve Him, you won't be able to be the two married and a priest. I comprehend the justifications why this custom got here into being - yet i in my view have self assurance it became asking too lots of all clergymen everywhere. in basic terms to a pair is given the skill to be celibate their finished lives. on the different hand - Orthodox Christians - their clergy are predominantly married which makes this issue much less. yet irrespective - everywhere there is stable - the devil will attempt to make it into evil.

Catholics believe that life is a sacred gift from God and needs to be treated with all human dignity from the moment of conception to the point of natural death.

The Catholic Church is pro-life in the widest sense. This is often called a "Consistent Ethic of Life."

This pro-life stance stresses the highest regard for dignity of human life including that of:
+ All people in objecting to unjust war and nuclear arms.
+ The unborn in objecting to to abortion, in vitro fertilization, frozen embryos, embryonic stem cell research, and cloning
+ The elderly, sick and dying in objecting to assisted suicide and euthanasia
+ Prisoners in objecting to torture and the death penalty
+ The poor and minorities in supporting social justice issues.

For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, sections 2270 and following: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt3sect2chpt2art5.htm#2270

With love in Christ.

I assume you mean the value of human life...by speaking out against abortion, euthanasia, the death penalty...by standing for the rights of the poor, the homeless, the disabled, the elderly, the retarded, the gay (though not approving gay sex) immigrants, sinners and saints and all people.

In 1585 Sixt VI became pope, he became to be called the iron pope. His name was used to frighten little children. There was a saying in Rome that he had more heads chopped off than there were melons on the market.
