yep. i'm a muslim. this is how it goes.

You have to eat between 12PM till 5AM(Malaysia time zone),
after that, there will be a sorta alarm which tells us when to pray and stuff like that. Then, you have will have to survive the whole day without eating, drunk, passed out, drinking, (having) period. If you're sick or pregnant, you are excused. Children HAS to start fasting at the age of 7.

After a few hours, You are allowed to eat (7.05PM). that's when you eat. And you will continue fasting the next day. You will finish fasting when the 'Full Moon' occurs

:) hope you understand

yeah, this really fasting,
in ramadan muslims doesn't just stop eating from dawn till sunsit, but they have to stop doing anything wrong, like saying bad words, or any other things that god doesn't like.
however, they already don't do any of these things, i means that not doing these stuff in ramadan doesn't mean that they will do it in the other months, they don't do anything that might hurm anybody anytime, but ramadan is just like a training for them, coz if you failed to control yourself in a day, you have to fast it again.
and there is something also, that they stop to eat in this month from dawn till sunsit to make their rich feel the pain of hunger that their poor suffer, and this to make the muslim community stronger.
sorry if my english wasn't the best

Yes of course it's really a fast, fasting does not mean going without food or water for 40 days.

I'm a Christian and I do fast as well, but health-wise I cannot go an entire 24 hours without food, I'd be in the hospital lol.

Well, relatively speaking it is. You'd have a hard time not eating for a whole month, right?

Catholics have days of fast and abstinence where they are enjoined from eating meat, or eating more than one meal. It's still a reduction in fleshly pleasures which is supposed to bring you closer to God.

It's called fasting not starving. Btw, the Islamic way of fasting has been scientifically proven as healthy and good for your system.

Fasting is abstaining from food for a determined amount of time so if they are not eating from sunrise to sunset they are fasting.

It really isn't, but for some reason they want to state to everyone, "I'm fasting." Not eating or comsuming liquids during the daylight hours but feasting when the sun sets is hardly fasting.
