There was a shooting at an outreach center, news got around and some other local churches hired security guards (probably off duty cops) just in case. A shooter (possibly the same one) showed up at another church (a so-called Mega Church 1,000+ members) and after firing a few rounds was shot him/herself.

In the world we live in, what's wrong with covering your own butt and being prepared to protect your own community? It's not like openly armed officers were patrolling the aisles during the services. They were there to help the massive congregation arrive and leave.

We have volunteer security at our church. They do not carry guns. But they do carry a compassionate heart, a willingness to listen and appropriate information on sources for help.

Last year a man came in to cause trouble for his ex-girlfriend. Our security officer spoke with him at length. In the end, we provided food and got him to a place of shelter, at the same time found a source of safe housing for the woman.
Now fast forward one year. The man came back, at first it was thought he might be looking for trouble. But we invited him to Sunday School class, and contacted our security officer, who again counseled with him. He kept coming back and joining our class, coming to church, started participating in a men's group, and accepted Christ as his savior. He has a long way to go, but has shown a decidedly different outlook than he did a little over a year ago.

Not too long ago another man came in from the street, again decidedly unbalanced. One of our pastors and myself talked with him at length until our security guard was able to get there. They spoke at length and in the end the man was found shelter, and psychiatric help. I am hoping in time he will find the spiritual help also.

I am not a Christian. but that was not funny. The love, compassion, and dedication of the priest is exceptional. They work in dangerous places and situations, that a ordinary person would be scared, and avoid. I admire their dedication.
American's love with gun, and their misguided right to bear arms is cause of so many fatalities.

The whole lot should be holey crushaders in the holes if they carry guns!
They strongly believe more in the Guns than in their" Juices Cries!"

No. Where do you get that from? From the fact that a church had armed security guards? That was a precaution after the first shooting.

Notice in the story that the gunman that got shot was yet another Christian religious fanatic.
