or any other such greeting?
Surely, most people do realize that Christians are celebrating the birth of Christ at this time of year, and it is just silly to get offended if a Christian wishes you "Merry Christmas"...but isn't it just as silly for Christians to get offended when offered a different holiday greeting?
I do agree with the poster (from my last question) who says he gets offended by "Season's Greetings"...to quote...
"what the hell does that mean, anyhow?"

Also, I apologize for not realizing that "an it harm none, do as ye will" was strictly Wiccan, and not Pagan...sorry if I offended anyone!!
Er...
Blessed be!

I simply can't understand how some people get so offended and bent out of shape by ANY *warm greeting* that can only be meant well, in the first place. It's totally absurd! They're just a bunch of self-serving, whining ignoramuses.
It's not like saying, "Your momma's so fat..." kind of line, is it??? Chill out, folks. We're nowhere near any de-militarized zone at all. Unlock and unload your weapons!
Let's all take a holiday break from anger and hostility, shall we...??
Peace be with you!

If you want to get an accurate idea of how many people out there are likely to get offended, search for "Yule" in the questions here. There are quite a few people who respond to questions about Yule with "it's not a real holiday," etc.
Also, there were a few questions on here a few days ago about a controversy in Olean, NY. City Hall (mind you, City Hall, not one of the local churches) put a nativity scene on CITY property. A Wiccan woman complained and was told by the mayor that she could place a Pentagram up in honor of Yule. The mayor said anyone else could place any other religious symbol up that they felt like - a menorah, etc. Someone in a black truck backed over the Pentagram and they're considering prosecuting it as a hate crime if they ever catch the person. I'll see if I can find the question one poster asked, where he basically said, "Was it wrong to have the nativity up, or was it wrong for the Wiccan to start trouble after the issue was basically closed?" If I can find it I'll post it for you.
I appreciate the nature of this question very much, by the way. But as you can see you're not really getting an accurate response. People who do get offended aren't going to admit it outright.

If you doubt that, try saying, "Blessed be" or "Merry Meet", to the next person at a check out lane who tells you, "God bless you", or, "May God be with you". They say things of that nature all the time here. They even say, "Merry Christmas" at you like it is some sort of protest. I've even heard the occasional, "Jesus IS the reason for the season, you know." It doesn't sound warm or welcoming. It sounds like bullying, since I am shopping with my kid, just trying to buy some groceries and get home and I cannot say anything back without looking like an @ $ $. Try saying ANYTHING to them that hints that you are of a different religion. No matter how friendly it is, they look at you like you just sprouted a second head, and bit them. There is often agitated grumbling as you walk away. If sales people behave like this, I do avoid shopping in that store.
Lets be honest: Most Christians enjoy miffing people of another faith or with no faith. There are Christians on Q&A who throw a small party every time they get a thunbs down and insist that all who, "Live for the Lord are hated". So, what is the use in debating this topic? If people do not want to be considerate, no one can make them. Just do what your concience tells you is right.

I've encountered a few that do but I just shrug it off. I'm wishing them joy for the season if they don't like the way I say it then....oh well.
To all those who are not offended by any of the differing seasonal greetings....Have a Blessed Yule and a Happy New Year!

I don't get offended, I accept it in the spirit in which it is given. I still say "Merry Christmas"--I trust that doesn't offend you B/C it isn't meant to.
