no, but according to your beliefs, I believe that god actually got his son back right? By dying, he went to heaven, so he didn't really sacrafice his son

The answerers that say 'NO' , clearly show that they have no faith in God's promises.

Abraham had complete faith in the true God Jehovah's power and ability to raise his son from the grave if that sacrifice was made.

Likewise his son , likely not to a weak child but a person that could easily defend himself , showed trust in his fathers wisdom , and therefore trust also in God.

Although we probably will never be required to sacrifice a loved one literally , true Christians sacrifice life by offering themselves whole souled to the way of life that God requires , this involves preaching the good news with boldness.

Grasping at straws, are we? Awww. What's the matter? Not enough straw to build a REAL straw man to tear down?

Abraham's was a test of loyalty because God already knew what He would do in providing a ram. Besides, because God had promised Abraham children, Abraham believed that God could bring Isaac back from the dead in order to fulfill His promise. Furthermore, it showed us a living illustrated sermon of what God would one day do.

God sacrificed Himself so that you wouldn't have to spend eternity in hell. (Are you even grateful?)

You denigrate sin to something minor. You just don't realize just how wicked sin really is. It has corrupted the earth, and if left unchecked, it would also corrupt heaven.

God MUST punish sin because He has zero tolerance for sin.

God is trying to show you just how horrible sin really is - from HIS eternal, infinite perspective, but you're so blinded by that very sin, that you're like a horse with blinders on so you can't see the whole picture.

Let me put it to you like this - sin is so desparately wicked that without the shedding of blood, there is NO remission, pardon, or forgiveness available.

In the Old Testament, God allowed the nation of Israel to substitute an unblemished lamb as (again) a living object lesson.

When Jesus came along, John the Baptist pointed him out of the crowd and declared, "Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world!"

You wouldn't understand this, because you didn't live in that culture, but the Jews in those days immediately made the connection.

The Bible says that even though Jesus had never known any sin, yet He actually became sin FOR us. He traded places with us and took OUR place so that we wouldn't have to face the dire consequences of sin.

"For God so loved this world that He (freely) gave His one and only uniquely begotten Son, that whosoever believes in (clings to, trusts in and relies on) Him would not perish, but have everlasting life."

But, "How can we be saved (or escape hell) if we neglect so great a salvation?"

Another illustration may help: Let's say you fell into a deep pit and there was no way you could get out. Someone came along and threw you a rope and told you to tie the rope around your waste and he would pull you up, but you reject the person AND the rope, blaming them for your predicament, and for your inevitable death!

God is the person, and Jesus is the rope. Get it?

Or another example might help. Let's just say you have some kind of terminal disease that will bring you excrutiating agony, but won't let you die before it's finished eating your insides out. A doctor comes along and offers you a FREE cure. Do you reject the cure and then blame the doctor for your pain?

Well, that's exactly what you're doing by rejecting Jesus' free offer to pardon you!

Am I getting through to you yet? Are are you still seriously mocking God for having mercy on you?

(I just don't think she gets it! But what more can I say that would open her eyes to the Truth of the situation?)

GOD can do things like that, and his son is resurrected. Abraham could speak directly to GOD, neither of these can I do, so no I would not make the sacrifice.

God did it for us! And Jesus' Sacrifice was enough forever! NO need to sacrifice! Those who have accepted Jesus don't need to sacrifice anything anymore. We have to live in accordance to The Bible, To Jesus's Words and Commandments. The Holy Spirit Guides us through His Ways!

I believe that God was testing Abraham to see if he really had faith. I believe that God would provide me with a lamb just like he did Abraham. God would not expect one of us to do that. He might expect us to do alot of really hard stuff but killing one of them is not it.

That is a hard one. I really couldn't answer until I had passed the test. If Abraham had asked me, I would have given him bad advice. I would have said A) YHVH said don't kill. and B) the promised seed will come through Isaac, so he has to live. (I would have been wrong)

Key to that is that Abraham was about to, God stopped him. God is the only to have truly sacrificed his son. To ask a sinner to be like God? It simply is not possible.

- Abraham was not doing that; he was being tested by G-d to see how strong his faith was. It had nothing to do with 'the whole world of sinners'.

I wouldn't sacrafice my child afteral i am not the one to make that choice. I'd approve if it was for a similar situation like Jesus, but that would have to be my child's choice. Afteral Jesus freely accepted his fate and he was not forced to do anything. Anyways i'll see them again in heaven. Thats the beauty of my boleifs.
