I think we can all agree murder is wrong, but some commandments seem arbitrary. The commandment about the Sabbath or the proscription of pork, for example.
So are these things wrong because they are forbidden by God, or are they forbidden by God because they are wrong?

Are you yet squarely behind any of the U.S. presidential candidates? If so, which one and are you a believer, an agnostic or an atheist?

Thanks very much :)

So I'm going through a tough time right now in adolescence..I've made a few mistakes, and my most recent may cost me my boyfriend who is also my best friend because we got in trouble for something and his dad is upset. Lately I've been falling from my faith but now I feel I need it more than ever and I want God to forgive me for my sins and to help my boyfriend and I make it through everything we're going through right now..does anyone know of any positive, encouraging songs that may help?

I need help writing the conclusion paragraph, here is the thesis: There is no doubt that the book of Genesis is the foundational book of Scripture, it is the book where creation, marriage, family, and worship are first mentioned.

I'm trying to figure out what is real. So many religions are out there, and I don't know which one is real. I'm getting tired of searching, and it's silly, I know, to go to Yahoo Answers, but I don't know where to go.

I feel in my heart that there is only one God, neither male nor female. I feel that genders are equal.

I took a quiz, beliefomatic, I think it was called, that is supposed to tell you what faith your beliefs are most in line with. I got Unitarian Universalist. Great. So basically, my beliefs are in line with... the people who believe everything. Not saying that the individuals believe everything, but the UU umbrella covers everything.

I -know- there is a God. And I'm trying to find truth. But, everything I read, there's something I disagree with. I disagree with a lot of the Bible. Wicca seems nice, but I believe in only one God, not the dualism thing.

I'm just confused, and looking for truth.

Help?

Okay, there is one person on here who answers almost every question with "Most atheists are homosexual" or something else that implies that. I for one don't really think it is true. I disagree with that kind of generalization. So, as a Christian who wants to see everyone treated fairly, I thought I'd give the atheists a chance to speak for themselves. So what do you all think?

I am a Christian but i have not been living or showing it in my life over the past year. The largest contributing factor, my boyfriend, who is also not a Christian.

Problem is, now, i love him.. i really really love him and the though of breaking things off with him KILLS me but then on the other hand i know he will not change his beliefs, and also i hate living like this living in sin. But i LOVE him.

Has anyone been in a situation like this and do you have any advice to offer. it is a very heartbreaking situation for me, like i said leaving him is sooo much easier said than done, how can you up and leave someone you truly LOVE?

As an agnostic would you understand why I would feel this way?
I do not mean it in an ugly way it just seems both following one religion and atheism does seem to have some likeness in the thought process behind it.
Your thoughts?

Should we give something the stamp of approval just because by convenience it was included when the Bible was being put together by a bunch of mostly elderly men following their personal biases? And should we be swayed by men egotistical enough to claim their own writings were "divinely inspired"?

that they wouldn't know what to do with their lives if they found out there was no God. Is your life really that wrapped up in your belief in God?

Christians, if (hypothetically, of course) someone managed to prove that there's no God, would that really change who you are? Why is God so important to you?

favor with God. He tells Daniel Gabriel is the only one who is helping me fight the prince of Persia. Michael and Gabriel are "princes" too - the angels. So I would assume there are angels for each country? Group of Countries? Who do you think they are (names)? Why does the prince of Persia have to be fought? Which angel is he? What do you think all this means? (Read Chapter 10 on to the end in Daniel). Thank you.

John 11:25 Then said Jesus unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and
John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily Verily, I say unto you
Before Abraham was I am. ? In several places Jesus says that he and God are one and the same. The one thing that I don't get is how could Jesus be a great prophet and the messiah unless he was a liar and if he was a liar then how can Muslims say he is a good prophet?

"Why is the Pope the anti-Christ?" (obnoxious)

"Why are all atheists pigs?" (offensive)

"Why don't all pagans know they're going to Hell?" (horrible)

Why are all believers stupid ignoramuses? (Shameful)

Etc., etc., etc.

Would it be against guidelines to post the following answer to such questions"

Also, what is your religion?

I'm Pagan, and I watched it, I admit, to see what all the fuss was about. It all seemed like too much of a muchness to me--the plot, the sets, etc. were a confusing jumble. Basically I just sat back and watched it as a fine example of the cinematographer's and special effects creator's art. But I could see where some Christians, especially Catholics, might be offended.

How about you?
