I'm trying to figure out what is real. So many religions are out there, and I don't know which one is real. I'm getting tired of searching, and it's silly, I know, to go to Yahoo Answers, but I don't know where to go.

I feel in my heart that there is only one God, neither male nor female. I feel that genders are equal.

I took a quiz, beliefomatic, I think it was called, that is supposed to tell you what faith your beliefs are most in line with. I got Unitarian Universalist. Great. So basically, my beliefs are in line with... the people who believe everything. Not saying that the individuals believe everything, but the UU umbrella covers everything.

I -know- there is a God. And I'm trying to find truth. But, everything I read, there's something I disagree with. I disagree with a lot of the Bible. Wicca seems nice, but I believe in only one God, not the dualism thing.

I'm just confused, and looking for truth.

Help?

A couple of you have said, basically, "Do you believe Jesus was His son?" The thing is, why would I believe it with no reason? There has to be reason to believe something. I can't just arbitrarily say, "Well, let's try another approach, I'm going to 100% dedicate my life to each religion, in random order, till one works." I can't believe in anything without reason.

I have tried praying to God for guidance, and all I've gotten in response is an increasing desire to search for truth. But theoretically, I should have run into it by now, but I don't get any "click, that works!" on any of it

Some of you have said that since I stated I disagreed with some aspects of the Bible, then it implies that I am not searching for truth, but instead searching for something to fit me.

Thing is, how can one tell what is truth? Part of the point of the question, really. It seems perhaps I must go by the nature of my spirit, by the guidance of my spirit, and some things within Christianity and Islam feel Wrong. If I don't go by that feeling, then it's just arbitrary. Maybe I'll be Islam today, and I'll try out Wicca this evening... hmm, tomorrow seems like a New Age day... or maybe Christian? *chuckles* It doesn't work that way, I have to try to figure it out as best I can.

Sometime truth lies somewhere people least expect. Just think why so many americans and specifically american women are reverting to Islam.

Well you have a desire to find truth because that spirit is in you. I am not going to tell you where I think the truth is. I can give you some pointers that will make your search easy. Maybe not at first, because you've got some work to do. But once you've established a foundation of "truth" to base your search for more of it, the truth will be fairly easy to find.

Establish correct principles. Is there a God? What evidences support it? Are these evidences practical and can they stand on their own (are they independent of the traditions of men, or do they exist because of the conclusions of men).

There's not a whole lot of religions that are NOT based on tradition somewhere. Typically, what you're going to find is that religions that a popular will be based on traditions, however. Take some Christians: TOTALLY based on superstitions, which become tradition.

There is one church that the Christians say is not Christian, and yet its name has the words "Jesus Christ" in it. Further investigation into THAT church shows that despite the strong opposition from false "traditionalists," the principles that church teaches are no where near traditions, and that is why no Christian can argue doctrine with a Saint -- because his own (the Christian's) doctrines are based on tradition rather than principles.

Anyway, a sincere search for truth will always depend on the truth you establish along the way, and your ability to comprehend traditions from true principles.

OK, that's enough. Good luck.

There is a quote from a movie that says...

"The truth? You can't handle the truth!"

The question is, how far are you willing to go to know the truth? And once you find it, are you willing to embrace it or will you abandon truth for lies that make you feel good about yourself?

Jesus said "I am the way, the life and the truth, No one can come to the father but by me."

I spent years searching for truth, and I found what I saw as truth, and have spent many more years testing the truth with other beliefs, world views, etc.

Truth demands exclusivity. 1+1 = 2 That is true. Any other answer besides "2" is wrong. "3" is wrong, "8" is wrong. That means there can be only one complete truth, and all the rest are lies. That is just the nature of truth.

The major questions of life....

Why do I exist? Why does humanity exist? What's my/our purpose? Why do so many bad things happen? Where did we come from as humans? How did life come about? What makes us different from animals? Why do we have morality, right and wrong, and consciences?

If you're serious, feel free to email me on my profile page if you want to learn what truth I've discovered.

u r right, God has no gender and thats exactly what Allah means. The Arabic word 'Allah' has no gender. Let me tell you that christians, jews and muslims all pray to the same God and Islam validates that in the Quran
"ALLAH is HE besides Whom there is none worthy of worship, the Living, the Self-Subsisting and All-Sustaining. HE has sent down to thee the Book containing the truth and fulfilling that which precedes it; and HE has sent down the Torah (Law of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guidance to the people; and HE has sent down the Discrimination (judgement between right and wrong)." -- Qur'an, Surah 3:3-4
Quran is the only holy book that remains unchanged since it was completed(1400+ years ago).

And you r right, there is only one God and he has no equal.
THe Quran says
4:171. O People of the Book! Commit no excesses in your religion: Nor say of Allah aught but the truth. Christ Jesus the son of Mary was an apostle of Allah, and His Word, which He bestowed on Mary, and a spirit proceeding from Him: so believe in Allah and His apostles. Say not "Trinity" : desist: it will be better for you: for Allah is one Allah. Glory be to Him: (far exalted is He) above having a son. To Him belong all things in the heavens and on earth. And enough is Allah as a Disposer of affairs.

Islam is the only religion that doesn't discriminate nor denies previous books or prophets. Its a complete way of life. If you have any particular questions regarding Islam, or have any misconceptions, thn e-mail, i'll be happy to answer any question.

Have faith in what he had written...It is all good and true ...........Look at the world and know the clock is ticking ... you are in the final hour , prophecy is about to be fullfilled again and for the last and final time..... Will you become like Lots wife , a pillar of salt forever , or will you be in the garden he wanted it to be ...

Christianity has a rich history which started with the jews at the beginning of time. The bible is filled with historical facts that Archaeologists use and has been proven very reliable. We have over 5000 documented ancient findings of scripture, many in different languages, all the same. WE have the dead sea scrolls to prove this also. The Vatican just bought 2 gospels dating 90 ad, the same as we have today. There is prophesies that has come to pass from the bible that proves it's reliability. Over 300 just for the man Jesus.

We have non christian evidence of Jesus from Tacitus and Josephus both historians. And a Governor named Pliny the Younger who all wrote about "Christos" and his followers the Christan's.

Archaeologists have found the tomb of Caiaphas who was the Pharisee that brought Jesus to trial.
Jesus WAS a real person who was an historical figure. Even well read Atheists KNOW this.

We have eye witnesses who had every thing to loose by claiming to be a follower of Jesus. Why? When Jesus was killed they scattered. Afraid. BUT when they saw he was resurrected they became bold. Why?
Since the bible is reliable, and Jesus WAS here you must decide.
Was he a nut? A liar, Or who he claimed to be.

Right now you sound like a basic Deist.

Don't let yourself get to worried about not being able to "label" your beliefs. You believe what you believe, and right now maybe there isn't one single labeled religion out there that matches your particular beliefs 100%. And that's OK. It's not a bad thing to be willing to say that you don't know all the answers. It's honest.

You first have to ask your self, "what do I believe."
You said you believe in one God, do you believe that Jesus is his son?
What is it that attracts you to Wicca? How can you connect this(what you like in Wicca) to your belief in one God?
If it's a gender thing you like in Wicca, try researching monotheistic religions where genders are equally treated, or as close to equal as you can get.
And if you got UU, who says there is anything wrong with going there and just attending once. You may meet someone who can guide you further along your path.
Also, try checking out some books at the library. There are a couple floating around that are along the lines of "What do _______ believe?"
I hope this helps and I wish you luck!

Here is why you are looking:
John 6:44 (NASB) "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.

God is drawing you to himself. Sorry about calling God Him, but that is Scriptural. You may not like it, but you are going to have to face a lot of stuff that you do not like if you are going to reach your objective.

Jesus made an exclusive claim to be God.
John 14:6 (NASB) Jesus said* to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

And then again Acts 4:12 (NASB) "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."

All religions make exclusive truth claims. All, without exception: Not just Christian, but Jewish, Muslim, Taoist, Shinto, Buhddist, and especially the cults that try to call themselves Christian. So your task is going to be to discover "Truth."

John 18:37-38
37 Pilate therefore said to Him, "So You are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice." 38 Pilate said to Him, "What is truth?" And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, "I find no guilt in Him.

What is truth? Truth is that which comports itself to reality, truth will not only have the "ring of truth" about it, but will be verifiable. Archeology will never "prove" the Bible, but it adds a lot of historical weight to the truth claims of Christianity.

Was there a person called Jesus? Josephus and Philo included Him in their histories. There are more historical records of Jesus than there are for Julius Caesar or Alexander the Great.

I encourage you to read the Bible for yourself, beginning with the Gospel of John, and let the Father speak to you in His own words, in His own way.

Well I believe Jesus is the way and the truth and the life and no one comes unto the Father but by Him.

Keep searching and seeking. Read the Bible...actually read it...even if you disagree with it...

seek and you will find Him when you search for Him with all your heart.

it must be that we are surely finding for the thought that presents us to get to the basis, the muse, of each little thing. while this in seek of manifests, it takes one in all those finding for reality, nevertheless understanding too properly that despite if that elusive 'reality' stands earlier us, to announce 'right here i'm' nonetheless, we are no longer equipped with the adequate stages to grow to communicate it in all its totality! (we've heard some cases of that amazing, blinding visions, while some thing like a miracle happens!). no longer something is an entire lie. there is a few reality approximately each little thing. case in point, while human beings pronounced it sluggish in the past that earth grow to be flat, and the sunlight grow to be going around the earth, it grow to be their reality, yet at that time of concept. as quickly as we grew to grow to be wiser, the certainty underwent a splash exchange. Now the earth is around, and is going around the sunlight! What we call as a lie is falsehood.
