Is it therapeutic, or a sign that they need therapy? Or do they honestly think that they're helping people?

Let's just say for the sake of argument you grew up in a purely atheistic society and no one ever told you about God. You then stumble across a Bible in, say, your attic one day. Is it compelling enough by itself to convert you?

Trust in him. Its like he is constantly testing us. And for some reason when we are disobedient he is so quick to discipline us with or allow not so pleasant things to happen to us ...Its such a stressful situation/relationship....please i hope there is something can understand where im coming from....and then the thing with trusting him .. its like we have to reall try hard to trust him for things....and if we have the slightest bit of doubt it totally turns his head......why why why! If we are attempting to trust and belive him for something, should he jump on that and totally bless are efforts.....

seems that Atheists are beginning to get more and more incoherent in their arguments.

i have nothing against Atheists and i am not directing this question at them as an insult.

Galatians 5:26
'That means we will not compare ourselves with each other as if one of us were better and another worse. We have far more interesting things to do with our lives. Each of us is an original.' - The Message Bible

I was a Christian for 25 years. I am now a Pantheistic Pagan. I searched my soul and found many things about Christianity that left me feeling empty and many unanswered questions. But I also found beauty in all religions I studied, including Christianity.

My question is, and as I said I know I'm beating a dead horse and I'm sure its been answered thousands of times here in R&S, but I'm going to ask it again.

It is my opinion that there are many paths that lead to the Divine (God, Allah, Muhammed, insert Deity). There are many who agree with my opinion. This being said, why does individual beliefs about God(s) continue to cause such hate, war and death? In a day and age filled with such contempt for our fellow man, if what I believe causes no harm (the fundemental base for Pagans) what does it matter what I believe, and why do others continue the persecution of religious differences. Aren't we trying to create a better legacy for our children?!

Why didn't this so called god just punish the sinners as he had done at other times in the bible?.Imagine how you would feel if you were put in jail because someone from your street, school, city or country had committed a crime.Of course some of you will say it's just a story to teach us but you pick other things and say they really took place.

If Christ really died for our sins and he did this freely and willingly because his dad told him to do this.
Then Why did he say on the cross?
Why hast thou forsaken me?
Why did he say this if he did it freely?
Once again I'm not being rude I would like to know.

I asked a question:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiHHe3aKe9dDBWpQH4jfTOnsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20070910014725AAR5Z4a

and this is one answer I received:(Which has gotten 2 thumbs up..)

"This is menipulation of his message..You already have killed 650,000 muslims so far. Now, even if you accpet Islam you deserved to be killed. His point is that you can be forgiven if you embrace Islam. "

So I wonder, is this really how Muslims feel? Even if I were to embrace Islam, I should be put to death? I simply ask because I know there are "Christian" answers on here that do not portray the love we are commanded to protray to others and I dont agree with them. Is this the same? Or is this the general feeling among the Islamic Faith?

Hello,
I have a problem that I cant talk about to anyone face to face because it is embarrassing. What it is, is that I have not had a girlfriend for over 15 years. I dont have any friends and just stay at home. As a man, I have sexual urges which I fulfilled with pornography (which I feel bad about).
Lately, I have started looking at transexuals and having sexual thoughts. I think I could be turning gay. I threw the porn away, but when the urge took me, I went out and piled up a larger, cruder collection including Transexual material. I always cry after I have relieved myself with this filth. I always feel disgusted with myself and want to die.
If I had a wife, I would throw all this stuff away for good, but I dont.
Can Jesus help me to sort my life out? I am now 45 years old. Is it too late for me?
