he was allowing himself to enjoy the fruits of his labor. The lesson to humanity is to learn to live in the moment, aka, keeping the sabbath.

Would you be tired if you created the heavens and the earth, and all that is in them, in six days?

God rested on the 7th day to show the world that they should show remembrance for him on The 7th day, by devoting it to him. There is much symbolism in the Holy Bible.

Just read the Book of Revelations, and try to get beyond the symbolism. You will have a difficult time. This book was meant to be a reminder to all to look beyond the clouds of rapture, and always be vigilant in your search for Christ. Keep watch always, even for a thief that you do not see, therefore you know not when he comes, or what he looks like, because you are asleep.

Since the bible was written by itinerant peoples who needed to rest their feet periodically, they thought it a good idea to have a day off and what better example than god himself/herself taking a well-deserved break.

If the bible had been written by frenchmen, god would have created the world in 365 days, but would have had weekends off, a six week vacation and many holidays, wine and cheese would flow and the world would be a happy place. Too bad the french weren't in the scripture writing business.

I don't think God 'woke up' suddenly 6000 yrs. ago or something and decided to create.

I believe He, being a Creator, keeps creating other worlds that we know nothing about. Every seven days to have fellowship with His created beings on the seventh day. To take time out to remember His awesome act of creation.

It is because people do not give importance to this fact they fall into all kinds of theories as to how human beings came to be here.

Twinkle of an eye e.tc. That question is beyond man.
And by the way, the stuff about rest is bunkum. Fatigue and rest are attributes of man. God does not need rest. He is perfect.

He rested on the 7th day because ... His work was done! He was satisfied with with His work!

Of course that perfect work was later corrupted by the entrance of sin into the system, but that's another issue.

:-)
