For me, good morals go beyond religion. Good morals stem from respecting other people and valuing others as part of society. They are the way one acts to fit within society’s rules regardless of a religion. People who do not practice a religion still can have good morals, know right from wrong and be compassionate, caring and loving human beings.
The Golden Rule can be found in most societies and religions - do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Nope, I'm an atheist, I do think that you can have a good moral stance without religion - look at the answers here and you've got one who claims it's moral to believe that bieng gay is a sin when it isn't a sin - that is a mistranslation which bigots use to promote hatred and other evils

No. Good morals is teached by parents, and confirmed by most religions.
Remember, satanism is also a religion, a bizarre religion, but a religion none the less.

No as most of my morals have been refined as studying ethics and trying to determine why an act is good or bad. For example, it is clear that good acts may be done for the wrong reasons just as bad acts can be done with the best intentions; likewise the results from any act may be considered good or evil even though they were intended the opposite or had no intention.

I think I have good morals but maybe not everyone would. I think it is a combination of good parenting, good role models, my religion and my education. The people who I know who I would say also have good morals probably have them for the same reasons.

I think you can get this from guidance..it can come from religion, your parents, your teachers, a good neighbour, good friend even, a good role model from society perhaps and not just stars and celebs who from my own point of view show lack of it, you also get to learn from other cultures and people of other faiths..but basicaly I'd say a bit of common sense too should tell you whats " Morally " right and wrong too .

I am an atheist but have moral standards. Basically I believe in treating others as I would like to be treated myself. In my experience not all devout Christians have particularly high moral standards and many can be hypocritical.

Not everyone is religious - so are you saying that non religious people have no morals?
My parents gave me the morals and good upbringing, I am christian but it has nothing to do with the church that I have good morals - parenting skills!

Religion is based on dogma and an artificially constructed concept of sin. It is therefore inherently amoral. As an atheist, I consider myself to have good morals, they are based on my own concept of right and wrong and a desire to do right by my fellow creatures, rather than being dictated by ancient texts!
