He has always given me what I needed......even though I may have wanted more.

He sometimes gives me what I deserve but more often, He shows mercy and is lenient with me. There have certainly been times when I deserved so little (reward) and received so much. There were many times I deserved much (chastisment) and received so little.

He gave me Jesus, and I certainly was not worthy of Him.

God notes our intentions and not our physical acts. We may be thinking that we are benevolent but unless we have the back up of our heart in that, God won't note the act.

But even when we do good acts and with pure heart, we can only be elevated to the heavens. Heavens is an earning that we achieve, and the duration in the heavens is for a specific time period only, and not for eternity.

Edit

northener and baptist have given very good answers. They are simple but true.

If we got only what we deserved, we will really have no future. So God works out our needs in the situation that we are in. And what ever we do is our free will is also true. We are supposed to understand the right from the wrong and act, because what ever are our intentions are noted by Him.

A true devotee, ceases to do good or bad both. He always finds himself surrendered to the desires of his Guru. The Guru means the spiritual master and not a teacher, or a recluse from the disciplic orders.

So normally God gives to us what we deserve. He gives what we want, only when we are face to face with Him. But here also devotees of the highest order, do not ask anything and instead derive the pleasure from whatever He gives. And that pleasure is of the infinite magnitude.

Lord shall give us what we want when we shall deserve it. This is a divine law. We should always limit our demands because whatever we want we shall definitely be given by Lord, but remember we may have to take millions of births to deserve it. The wise should always limit their demands in such a manner that they should be fulfilled in this birth itself and one should continuously strive to get released from this torturous exile of physical body in an ever changing world full of miseries.

Karma said it's what we deserve. On the otherhand, the lord graciously gives us the chance to undo the mistakes.

The Lord gives what we deserve--To give or deny-to give more or less-when to give and when not to give- All these fall under His decision and nevertheless that proves to be to our well-being and ultimate advantage .

He doesn't always give us what we want. Sometimes we are better off for that. God knows us better than we know ourselves.

In the end, we will all get what we deserve. There is no getting around that. There will be a final reckoning and accounting.

I believe for the most part I get what I need to remember my true identity & relationship to him, unfortunately, that may not always be what is comfortable or exactly what I had in mind. I am never given more than I can handle, but he seems to have a rather high opinion of me.
