Aquatic life did not required salvation at the ark from a lot of raining.
I think this is not what you want to read but, a God so powerful to start and control a flood like this is powerful enough to provide for the safety of aquatic life during it.

The Great flood was probably the Mediterranean Sea and it is thought ( I do not know) that the breach was at the Straits of Gibraltar. This allowed the Atlantic to flood in. I do not know if there is a high spot there with a drop on either side but when I was there a couple of years ago I did notice a change in the colour of the sea. To the people living there it would seam that the whole world had been flooded and destroyed. If this is the case (not discussing Noah Ark) Bugs etc. would not die. Presumably some fresh water fishes may have done. Given the scale of the disaster the flooding must have been over a period of time. giving people a chance to forsee what would happen

Well, absent supernatural intervention, it is almost certain that all or almost all fish and other aquatic life would die in the flood. Adding 5 miles deep of fresh water on top of the earth at a rate of 26 feet per hour would probably kill all plant life on Earth, and the dilution of the oceans with that much water would kill most salt water fish, and the temperature change would kill most other fish, and the crushing pressures of that much water coming down so fast would kill everything else. Not to mention the fact that all the fish that used to live in the oceans now would be spread out in an ocean that was now miles deep worldwide, without any more coral reefs and other habitats that most life need to survive....

So, its very hard to believe, taken literally. However, as a memorialization of a grave regional flood in the middle east (for which there is archaeological evidence), it makes more sense. Anyone writing a story like that would have no personal knowledge of whether Mt. Everest was submerged. He would, however, be able to recount stories of how everything in the area was submerged, and the people would have handed those stories down by word of mouth, embellishing them dramatically with hyperbole like "the whole world" and all that.

Salt water fish and fresh water fish all swimming in the same water. Non-aquatic plants submerged for months. Most people don't think about these things, because they don't question the stories they grew up being told.

Hard to tell - the Black Sea was flooded by the Mediterrean overflowing through the Bospherus when the sea levels rose through melting ice-caps last time. It partially salinated the Black Sea and increased it to it's present size. Maybe they learned to live in both fresh and salt water? The loss of land caused the Indo Europeans to seek somewhere else to live - around 4500BC, and they came south.

Some people do not understand the difference between fresh and salt water fish. They also believe flood stories though...

I would never have thought this. Most of the fish lived in the flood of Noah has always been my thinking of it.

Andy,
The water-dwelling creatures were NOT included in the ark according to Genesis. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,

Yeah - they drowned.

It's a cruel world. Even today people kill and eat tuna just because they're friends with dolphins.
