Sorry, this is just really hard to wrap my head around...

It seems that people are rationalizing the fact that God sent 2 bears to rip FORTY TWO "youths" (which apparently means 18-20 year olds) to shreds for making fun of a prophet.

So..... once again, just checking, if you're a 20 year old "youth" & you say something stupid to an important person, you deserve to be mauled to death by bears...... right?

discover new evidence that would in turn cause your to reject your past presumptions and instead take new ones?

Basically, (in relation to religion), would (atheists) seek to discover evidence as to the existence of a sentient primal mover or (theists) the non-existence of such a cause?

Dont you just hate it when you get some religious people knocking on your door and wanting to save you from the fire of hell. I got a knock from a christian denomination (man and woman) who came inside my house to discuss christianity and what it means. After listening to them i asked questions and pointed a contradiction in the bible relating to Abraham, Ishmael and Isaac. It is clear that Ishmael is the oldest son of the two. But in the bible - God says to Abraham - take your ONLY son Isaac and sacrifice him. But Isaac wasnt his ONLY son - Ishmael was his son too.
This is just one example that i gave them in regards to many. Now i told them that it is aparent that SOMEONE throughout the 2000 years of christianinty has been tampering with it and has changed the message to suit their own needs thus the claim that the bible is not the same as the one sent 2000 years ago. When i pointed this out to them - they thanked me for my time and made excuses to leave. What do you people think?

more than the teachings of Jesus. This is something I find difficult to understand. Not being nasty, or anything but just cant figure it out. Does anyone feel the same as me, or am I the only one. I mean the rest of us follow Jesus Christ, or am I missing something.

There are other religions out there that don't follow their beliefs, why don't you talk about them...
I'm not trying to talk about other religions or anything, i just wanna know why people talk bad about christian's more than any other religion..

Here's how it's translated in the KJV:

23) And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

24) And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

And here's how it's translated in the NIV:

23) From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!"

24) He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

I've gotta know... does it REALLY matter whether these "youths" were "children" (roughly ages 5-12) or "young adults: (roughly ages 13-17)?

I think that 2,000 years after a death of a life, we are putting too much blame and hatrid on people for something that they didnt do. Some christians do not like jews because they believe that they killed jesus. I believe otherwise, but, even if they did kill jesus, DOES IT MATTER!

does not the very bible you preach say in Ezekiel 18:20 it states, "The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."

So, i myself did not kill jesus (i am jewish), so why does everyone always have to note how i killed jesus? i really think that people should practice what they preach. I dont know jesus, but i bet that he wouldnt want people to hate others for thousands of years because he died. he would want everyone to be happy and peaceful together.

The whole reason Jehovah commented that he was One God was for the purpose of bringing back the Isrealites to the relization that he was not to be likend to the Egyptian gods that always came in sets of threes. he was a single entity. He did not want his people becoming converted into believing in a diety godhead like the Egyptians. Which is what many are doing today that claim to worship Jehovah the god of the bible. They still push the belief of a trinitarian god on Jehovah.
sad.
this is not really a question but an observance of how some of you may respond.

WHAT ARE WE HERE FOR?!? if God loves us sooo much then why does he only give some the gift of faith?

Who else gets tired of scientists trying to prove or disprove the existence of God. You have atheistic Scientists like Richard Dawkins who write books like "The God Delusion" arguing that God most likely does not exist, and then you have theistic scientists like Michael Behe who write books like "Darwins Black Box" arguing that God most likely does exist. It annoys the hell out of me. Science has not yet reached a point where we can conclude with any degree of accuracy that God does or does not exist. There is no point in trying to prove the existence of God because it simply cannot be done with current knowledge and technology. It does nothing but belittle the purpose of science when people like Richard Dawkins and Michael Behe claim that science can do things that it can't yet do.

What religious based idea do you have that is different from the norm?

I wonder if God could be the leader of a race of aliens and Satan is the leader of another, both of them having different ideas of what to do with us when they return.

I've heard about a book and DVD called The Secrets. What is it all about? I saw the news and people were going to Secrets Workshops. What is all that about? People believe that a DVD and book will actually help them out in life? I believe its just a way to get people to waste their cash on something that isn't even real. I have my beliefs set on something that is real but thats just fake. Sorry but what is this world coming to? They create things that just rip people off their money.

I've heard several scientist say they were trying to touch the face/hand of God. Einstein said he was trying to catch God at his work all his life.

Do you think science will ever find him?
