i will tell you 2 incidents that disturbed me terribly. It happened in the 90s, and let me tell you

a black man by the name of james byrd was walking on a lonely road when a pickup truck pulled over with some white men. these men caught james tied him on to the truck and drove all over the yard till his entire body and bones became minced meet

A boy named matthew shephard who was a homosexual was linched by some white men who hated homosexuals. They hanged matthew on a fence and bashed him till he died

now these men who carried out these horrible crimes were christians. But i never know of any american television evangelist who openly condemned these crimes

why so?

St Augustine in De Doctrina Christiana: "What the apostle says pertains to this problem: 'For the letter killeth, but the spirit quickeneth', that is, when that which is said figuratively is taken as though it were literal, it is understood carnally. Nor can anything more appropriately be called the death of the soul than that condition in which the thing which distinguishes us from beasts, which is the understanding, is subjected to the flesh in the pursuit of the letter. He who follows the letter takes figurative expressions as though they were literal and does not refer the things signifies to anything else... He is a slave to a sign who uses or worships a significant thing without knowing what it signifies.

Church Father Origen: “Scripture contains an unhistorical element in-woven with the history, in order that the worthlessness of the latter may drive us to seek the spiritual meaning”

It seems as though many questions posed are by those who do not believe, and answers recieved and chosen as best are from those of a like mind. If there is to be no real interest in someone elses opinion unless it agrees with preconcived opinions of the asker. So, should there be a 'pat yourself on the back becouse some one thinks like you do' section? Or should we use this space to truly try and find answers to questions that we have not yet formed an opinion upon?

"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse" (Rom 1:18-20 NKJ).

Take a stab at it truthfully Atheist, Agnostics, Christians, Mystics (Gnostics and others), and other. Be genuine and truly look it over in reason and use unbiased intelligence, which is asking a lot because everything is filtered through our beliefs. I'll add the below for reference.

5. Jesus said, "Know what is in front of your face, and what is hidden from you will be disclosed to you.

For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed."

Peace

D&C 132: 61-63
61 And again, as pertaining to the law of the priesthood—if any man espouse a virgin, and desire to espouse aanother, and the first give her consent, and if he espouse the second, and they are virgins, and have vowed to no other man, then is he justified; he cannot commit adultery for they are given unto him; for he cannot commit adultery with that that belongeth unto him and to no one else.

The God hypothesis can't be proven scientifically or indeed even logically. The idea can only be understood from a psychological perspective implying that it's a product of the mind as opposed to reality. Personnal experiences are entirely subjective. Many can be explained scientifically (ghost infestations etc.). The Bible strongly implies that the world is 6, 000 years old and fails to account for fossils. It also includes a talking donkey. Most religions suggest that humans are the most important beings in existence, which seems to be the product of a superiority complex. There exists theist extremists but not atheist extremeists. An atheist was beaten to death by religious fanatics in America only a few months ago. If God did exist he'd clearly be either evil, or lacking complete omnipotence in which case he's a liar. Being omnipotent and omniescent is a strong paradox. If omnipotent & omniescent, does he have the omnipotence to change his omniesence. Try it. What do you think now?

I would like for Christians to steal Mardi Gras so it could become a national holiday. Christians could say it was the day Jesus turned water into wine or to comemorate some other party related miracle. Should I write to the Pope to approve this?

Some people alledge that Jesus (puh) is son of God and part of trinity. He has no human father and was born from virgin Marry. So what we should say Adam is God himself ? Because he has no human father and no human mother.
I do respect other peoples faiths but I just would like to show the logic behind our belief that there is only one God and He needs no son, no partner, no helper and He is omnipotent, thus He can create humans in what way He likes, without father, without father and mother or with mother and father as He generally does... All the best :)

What is your way of enjoining what is right and forbidding what is wrong with your brothers in Islam. How many of us follow the ways of the Holy Quran to repel other's evil deeds with your good deeds so as he to become a close friend of you later. Do you agree with the ways of arguing and fighting back in harsh ways with everyone who disagrees with their view of Islam when Allah says "Do not argue with the People of the Book (Jews and Christians) except in good taste" How can a Muslim then argue in bad manner with a brother Muslim?

Please tell me your thoughts regarding this and what are the very basic rules of enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil which is a duty of every Muslim.

Who did what (father, mother, suitor, daughter, etc)? Who found a match, who proposed and to whom, who accepted, etc? How was this all handled?

Also, if the woman was a widow, how were things different? Or what if a first-time bride's father was dead -- did someone fill in his role?

I'm studying biblical guidelines on marriage, and I'd like to contrast them with the customs of the time.
