SENITA:
I do remember those two incidents you mention, and I remember a lot more that I could write several books on the topic. And I want to let you know that ours is not a perfect society, we have a dark side, an evil side like every other society on earth, like every other religion on earth.
But the way we deal with this issue, is changing the law. The first incident you mention, as far as I know, the culprits had been brought to justice, and the second one is under investigation. These incidents had been repudiated in different times, and I'm sure the different churches had repudiated them too. If you want a world wide broadcast, sorry, but that never happened to make sure you watch it.
Do not be hard on us, I wish you can come to USA and enjoy the freedom we have, we do not punish our women for wearing a skirt that goes short by one inch, we do not punish our women for not covering her face, or for smoking, or for talking to a man in public. We are pretty liberal on those issues.
In this society we respect the different sex options people might have.
In this society, whites marry white, or oriental or hispanic, and they are not punished by that -not long ago, a news hit the hedlines of a girl that got killed for falling in love with someone of a different religion, and that was not in USA, and they were not Christians.
Yes we have the problems you mentioned, but we are working to solve them. I hope you sooth your perception of American society, we have problems and we will solve them, and you always are welcome to enjoy our freedom.
Your American friend.

I remember the one where the man was dragged, and i remember seing on TV where the preacher asked for the congregation to pray for the family. The other I dont know about. Yes they are terrible crimes, but you can not generalize. By the way, I dont see clerics on TV asking anyone to pray for the victims of 911.
We do not judge all in the same manner, not should you.
The individual decides what path to take, not the group in most cases.
Just as you are an individual and made your own choice.
Also, the term Christian is used fairly loosely by some. Just as you profess to be muslim / atheist, does not make you an extremist for either side but those who generalize would portray you in the worst way possible.
Peace be with you

You need to distinguish between true Christians and those who only have the label.
Unfortunately Muslims consider everyone in the West a Christian, just like many Westerners consider every Muslim a terrorist. It is not good to generalize, but to look at each person individually.
If television evangelists would condemn every crime that happens in their country, they would never have the time to do what they should, which is tell people how they can enter into a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

I am an American, & I remember those stories, Yes they were very bad stories, I am not for any gays or lesbians, Because the bible does say anyone that practice these sinful acts are worthy of death, But nowhere in the bible does it tells us or anyone other then our own national laws or even state laws tell any law-in-forcement officer to arrest them & to give them a fair trial, We are not the ones that are to carry out a death sentence, God will do that himself. Now I am a white man, & I have many friends that are black, I always treat any black person equal as I would treat any white man. Now you say the ones that carried out these crimes that killed these people was Christians, Friend, No they were not christians, TRUE CHRISTIANS does not take the law into their own hands, These people just try to cover up their actions under the cover of Christains, just as islam tries to cover up their actions of killing man, women & children, satan always tries a cover-up. I am glad you brought up this point, I do not condone anything those so call christians did, & I have been a Christian for over 37 yrs. Do I mis-treat gays & lesbians, NO, Do I run around with them NO. Will I invite a gay or lesbian into my home NO, would I let a black person in my home, Yes, Will I try to save a gay or lesbian if their house was on fire, Yes.

I have heard numerous condemnations of these crimes from many people.Just because the people opposing these crimes aren't famous enough to be on television, doesn't mean that the condemnation wasn't there.

I do not know if that is true at all,but if so
horrific crimes are committed all day long all over the world by every religion, and race.
This is a poor slam at Christians.

I'm shocked....
Someone get me a glass of water.
You did it after all this time, a decent question. Lets hope its not the last.
Friend of Jesus - I have news for you Muslims do not think all westerners are christian. Not all Muslims are from the middle east, plenty of us Muslims are westerners born or reverted. And where do you think Christianity came from? Not the west that's for sure. Jesus was a Palestinian after all. Sorry to burst your bubble.
White, western , Muslim woman :)

in this culture we are aware that the televangelists are actually wanting to see things like this...no one is as holy as they say they are...they just continue to preach to get money...whatever is popular with their crowd is what they preach...as they are preaching to a large (very large) majority of white southerners...these tragedies are considered acceptable to many of them and it would be very very unpopular should they preach against them...they would lose some big bucks...

While your message is a concern, you should learn how to spell a few of the words you used.
