God determines who goes to Hell. He knows the mental state of the person and will judge accordingly.

Sometimes we answer like we know everything. The truth is that only God can judge the life of another. Suicide is an act of desperation. It has more to do with hopelessness and depression then with faith. I believe that God who knows the heart will judge wisely and lovingly.

Now a question of you. Are you asking this because of curiosity, because of the suicide of a friend or family member, or because you have been contemplating suicide? I apologize for the bluntness of the question. But if you are asking out of curiosity, then my answer is complete.

If however you have lost someone to suicide, may I kindly suggest that you find some counseling support. Death is hard to deal with, but when death is by suicide it leaves unanswered guestions that torment the soul. We need help in dealing with the pain.

If you are contemplating suicide, then I beg you to get to a doctor, pastor, or counselor. There are medications that can help with the depression and proper support helps us deal with the pain that drives the thoughts.

Those who are adamant that a person who takes his life is committing a mortal sin, and will go to hell, are basing their belief on church doctrine rather than on the Bible. Scripture is silent on the subject. There are no verses that say "He who takes his own life shall be damned." According to Scripture, only one sin does not have forgiveness, and that is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit (see Mark 3:29 footnote). That means there is forgiveness for every other sin.

Some quote 1 Corinthians 3:17, which says that God will destroy someone who "defiles" the temple of the Holy Spirit. Yet, there is disagreement about what it means to defile the temple. Does this include suicide? Does it include illicit drug abuse (slow suicide), prescription drug abuse, cigarettes (deliberately breathing in poisons that will eventually kill), tattoos, over-eating (digging a grave with your spoon), or alcohol abuse?

God forbid that we add to the pain of someone who has lost a loved one through the tragedy of suicide, by making a judgment about their eternal destiny. God is the ultimate Judge, and we should therefore leave the issue in His hands. It would be wise to follow the biblical example and not come to any verdict in the case of suicide.

You say you are not religious but you question 'hell' as to whether it exists. If you research this concept you will see it for what it truly is, a man-made teaching that has been passed down and infiltrated into "Christian Thought."
'Hell' has its roots in pagan religions, not in the pure word of the bible.
The word 'hell' found in several bible translations are an incorrect rendering for the Hebrew word sheol and the Greek word for hades. In some places such as in the book of Job, you will find the words 'pit' and 'hell' where the original word sheol has been misapplied. In the book of Acts 2:27 it shows how Christ went to hades. In some translations which are used today, the Greek word hades is rendered 'hell.' These Hebrew and Greek words, sheol and hades are simply the common grave where there is no conscious existence.
While undergoing much suffering, Job said he would rather go to sheol than suffer any longer.-Job 14:13 Sheol here is replaced by the word 'hell' in some bibles. Now logic here is, if Job was suffering so bad that he wanted to die, why would he want to go to 'hell' a place of much greater suffering. Simply thus, that Job wanted to go to his grave and suffer no more. Again in Acts 2:27-32, says that Jesus died and was in the grave for three days awaiting his resurrection. .
If you are concerned for a loved one who may have taken their own life be assured that they are not suffering. Do your own research on the man-made doctrine of 'hell.' You will see that such a place of fiery torment does not exist.
So the answer to your question is, No! suicide victims do not suffer when they die. They go back to the elements like all those who have died. "From dust you are and dust you shall return."says Genesis.
People can go through the worst kind of depression and mental anquish and act irrationally to the point that they may take their own life. There are other types of disorders and diseases of the brain, such as bipolar depression and schizophrenia which if untreated can result in suicide.
What is the chance that they will live again? Their Creator sees how that persons life was and what may have influenced them. He sees what and who they really were within their figurative heart. He is a merciful God who sees the mental pain a person experiences. He will judge those ones righteously and give them a resurrection if he sees the good in that person.

The church in Rome teaches that suicide is "murdering your self" and since you don't have an opportunity to confess to a preist and repent and do penance then you are on your way to Hell.

The Bible doesn't teach that however. Suicide is never listed as a sin. There are about 5 or 6 stories where someone killed them self including the armor bearer of King Saul and all the Bible does is tell the story without any comments on what God has to say about what the people did.

Most people who commit suicide are suffering from mental illness. God doesn't send people to Hell because they get sick and die, even if they are the immediate cause of their death.

People go to Hell because they don't trust in the sacrifice of Jesus to pay their sin debt. Go to the Get Saved button @ http://www.angelfire.com/rock3/cornerstone0/ if you don't want to stand before God condemned because you have broken one of his laws.

If you are not a Christian, then yes...suicide sends you to hell.
If you are a Christian, then no...suicide does not send you to hell.

The real question is: are you (or is the person) REALLY a Christian?

For instance, walking into a garage does not make you a car anymore than walking into a church make you a Christian.

So the next question: what REALLY makes a person a Christian?

Jesus says; "you must be born again" in John 3.

Nicodemus responds (slight paraphrase): "Dude...Jesus...what the heck are you talking about? You mean I gotta go back into the womb of my mom and be born again?"

Jesus explains (paraphrase): "No...you must be born of water and Spirit".

Meaning, a true Christian is born of Spirit...meaning "filled with the Holy Spirit".

Now then, the "fruit" of being "filled with the Holy Spirit" are in Galatians, chapter 5...including "love, joy, peace, etc...".

So...if someone has love, joy, and peace....the question begging is: why on earth would they commit suicide???

Answer: most likely, they never would.

Hence, a person who commits suicide is not likely filled with the Holy Spirit...and therefore, most likely not a TRUE Christian...and hence, yes...they go to hell.

HOWEVER, this is not 100% (and that is why I say "not likely")....for even TRUE Christians can suffer from severe psychiatric disease....or even commit suicide under other circumstances, such as being in horrific pain and dying of terminal cancer.

Even Paul in the Bible talks about how dying would be FAR better than continuing to live...for He knew that if he died, he would go to heaven, which is infinitely BETTER than this world! See Philippians 1:21!!!

SO...to answer your question:
No - suicide does NOT definitively send you to hell.

But, I guarantee that the VAST majority of people who have committed suicide are in hell...and the VAST majority who do or will commit suicide in the future will also end up in hell.

-

So...that's that.

Are we clear...?

:)

None of this is in the Bible.
The Catholic church believes that you cannot ask for forgivness for the sin of taking your life.
I say I don't know. If Jesus is your Lord and Savior you go to heaven. If he is you Lord and savior why would you kill your self? It is a very difficult topic.
I am sorry if you are dealing with a suicide! It hs to be very painful.

Suicide is largely self homicide so can not be condoned, yet a individual pushed to such an severe would desire to no longer be of their suitable innovations. If someone's stability of innovations has been affected to the factor the place they tragically see no incorrect way out, then they are able to't be totally to blame for his or her strikes. A loving and basically God would unquestionably renowned this. As for Hell, the Bible states "somebody who has died, of course, no longer has to respond to for sin". - Romans 6:7 New Jerusalem Bible Is the sinner no longer answering for, or finding out to purchase his sin for eternity in accordance to the Hellfire docrine? "The wages sin will pay is dying" {Romans 6:23}, no longer eternal torment. think of approximately it, would you punish a baby for some misdemeanour by ability of holding his quit a warm range? If the thought is repulsive to you, then how would desire to it somewhat is suited to a loving and basically God? The fake doctrine of Hellfire is a repugnant affront to a God of love.

Suicide is Breaking The Commandment of Thou Shall not Kill/Murder, it is the Murder of Self, and there are a few videos of people who tried and went to Hell and then God brought them back to life so they could give a Testimony, so YES i believe it does.

What determines whether you go to heaven or hell is not how many or what kinds of sins you commit (as long as there's at least one). What matters is if Jesus knows you.

If you want him to know you, you have to get to know him.

If you are a child of God, you know Jesus as your Savior then you will go to Heaven. However, if you are child of God, you would be less likely to commit suicide. But it does happen to Christians, occasionally. We all get down so low sometimes that we just can't get back up.
