Sorry, this is just really hard to wrap my head around...

It seems that people are rationalizing the fact that God sent 2 bears to rip FORTY TWO "youths" (which apparently means 18-20 year olds) to shreds for making fun of a prophet.

So..... once again, just checking, if you're a 20 year old "youth" & you say something stupid to an important person, you deserve to be mauled to death by bears...... right?

second squirreling, the user "wolfeblayde" told me that she'd heard that "youth" had, in other bits of the Bible, referred to 20 year olds, so I was giving her the benefit of the doubt and assuming they were old enough to know what they were saying and doing.

By the look of the answers, it seems that God was totally justified in having these 42 "youths" die a vicious and brutal death in order to be part of a "morality lesson". I wonder why God gets away with that but no one here on Earth could.... eh, I suppose they don't "work in mysterious ways" like the Lord, meaning they aren't excused from the abominable behavior both admonished and carried out by the Lord.

Gotta love that "I can do whatever I want, morality doesn't apply to me, nyah nyah nyah" sovereignty thing, right?

Nobody deserves to die for mocking an old man, no matter who he represents. I read all the opinions offered for your original question. It's too bad God is only a ficticious entity. If He were real, the world court would quickly put Him on trial at the Hague for crimes against humanity. A God as evil as Jehovah (Yehwah) is unworthy of human worship.

That story is from the Judeo-Christian work called the Bible.

Some men are really sensitive about hair loss. So sensitive in fact that they might allow others to be tragically mauled to death, rather than show courage, piety and kindness by example and help save them.

But not all Bald Men are like that...M. Gandhi was bald, for example. And he was quoted as saying "The only thing wrong with Christianity is Christians."

Hmmmm. I have only the most minimal idea who Kirk Cameron is, or what he's up to. I'm also wondering what the bears and mauled youths are all about. What i can tell you, however, is the following.

I took a look at his official site, since i was somewhat intrigued by all the drama regarding this. I am what is known as an "energy sensitive", meaning i can sense frequencies and vibrations being "emitted" by people, places and "things", and including non physical "things". Quite a few people have this "skill", and it's one that can be developed by very many with some effort. I was born with "it".

Long story short; high vibes indicate "good"; "low" not so "good" in my "experience". Being around high = feeling energized, happy, good. Around low, the opposite. I will just say that the following people have low vibes--no surprise--our president and vice president, and just about all of their "coterie". And, as a matter of fact, most adults who are involved with greed, narcissism, and the like.

Kirk has low vibes, his site has low vibes. That does not mean he is "evil", it just means that he needs to do some "personal work" to "clean himself up" so that his frequencies rise, if he wishes. Personally, i find being around high vibes a better course of action.

*Sigh* Are you still trying to make sense of that thing Zero?

This is the God that visited the plagues on Egypt rather than teleporting the Israelites out of there, remember?

The God that apparently, according to the Torah, deliberately made Pharaoh unwilling to release the people, so that God could manifest his great power and cause it to be declared among the nations, so that other peoples would discuss it for generations afterwards.

So it all makes perfect sense IMO. If you're Hannibal Lector.

It depends upon the translation. Some take it as meaning children.
In fact everything before the pentacostals started getting asked about it said children and the Hebrews still say children.
Yeah, death to those who tease the clients of the hair club for men.

If I were to be held accountable for what I did around age 20, I'd either be in Guantanamo Bay or the star of Jackass The Movie 3.

Thank [insert whatever here] that I was allowed to grow and mature as a human and I wan't mauled by she-bears.

I think I've finally gotten past being shocked when I find out that people actually believe stuff like that. Now I just laugh! Watching people trying to justify this is like watching a hampster that just keeps running in circles trying to get through a maze...

When she was 20 Mary probably had an 8 or 9 year old son. HE'D probably have been thought of as a "youth".

This is proof that Kirk Cameron isn't a prophet.

I'm in my 20s, I've ripped on him constantly, and I have yet to be smitten!

How were 20-somethings youth? You know what the life expectancy was then? When you turned 18, you had your midlife crises.
