I mean people today believe some stupid stuff. I don't just mean religion either, but don't get me started. I mean people today will buy into anything, heck America elected G. W. Bush twice (well once), and bought into the Iraqi war from leftover 9/11 anger.

It's the 2000's, 2000 years have passed since Jesus walked the Earth. Imagine how dumb people in Jesus' time were. Think of the stuff you could get these illiterate dummies to believe. I mean they couldn't Wikipedia your claims, they didn't get their news from the tele. It was all word of mouth, and when you mix the stupitdity of people in the 1st century with word of mouth you get the Som of God walking on water.

Do you prefer that the babies suffer on earth first? Is that being kind to the babies?

Well, the thing is I can't decide which I should prefer more, rainbows or sunsets.
They are both God's glorious creations, but by gosh, there comes a time when a man has to take a stand!

My wife Maude used to love sunsets.

Maude's dead now.

Anywho, if you'd be so kind as to offer old Neddy your very best Ann Landers imitation, well, gosh I'd be grateful.

Thank Diddily anks,
Your Neighbor,

What if after you die, you float for eternity in nothingness. An endless black void, and you. All you would have to think about was your time on Earth.

What if you had to spend eternity thinking about a wasted life. You always wanted to do this.....you always wanted to go there, etc. This girl, that guy, family, friends, did you see them enough?

And then there's you. As you float through the void for eternity how will you be able to live with your actions on Earth. Were you too scared to really live? Scared of a God, scared of what people would think about you, scared of failure?

Life's hard, but you have to make it count, cause no matter what's next, this may be our only go here on Earth. Despite it's faults I love it here, so I'm going to go ahead and enjoy it.....hope to see you around.

Ok, first off i would like to state I'm Atheist.
You know whats funny... some atheists blame the world's problems on religion, while believers blame atheists for the world's problems....

There is no logic in either argument.... if there is please state it.

Why do some atheists always try to convert people into believing God doesnt exist, when they in turn hate it when Christians/ others say they will go to hell or try to convert people. Goes either way in many debates.

Oooo... another sad mistake... hippocrites/ or just plain annoying...
If you are responding to a question though... GIVE THEM ALL YOU GOT!!!

“The troubles of radiocarbon dating are undeniably deep and serious. Despite 35 years of technological refinement and better understanding, the underlying assumptions have been strongly challenged and warnings are out that radiocarbon dating may soon find itself in a crisis situation. Continuing use of the method depends on a “fix-it-as-we-go” approach, allowing for contamination here, fractionation there, and calibration whenever possible. It should be no surprise, then, that fully half the dates are rejected. The wonder is, surely, that the remaining half have come to be accepted.
“No matter how ‘useful’ it is, though, the radiocarbon method is still not capable of yielding accurate and reliable results. There are gross discrepancies, the chronology is uneven and relative, and the accepted dates are actually selected dates. This whole blessed thing is nothing but 13th-century alchemy*, and it all depends upon which funny paper you read.

Where do you most see the love of God or feel the love of God?

2007-08-03 14:04:03 · 26 answers · asked by Former Atheist 4

What is that something?

If your answer is anything like "I would never stop believing" or "there is nothing that could make me stop believing" PLEASE do not answer this question. If you cannot answer within the set limitations of this question, you do not need to answer it. I know there are many of you who would deny the nonexistence of your god all the way to your grave. That's fine, but I am only interested in hearing from people who can seriously consider the hypothetical situation where they stopped believing in their god tomorrow.

So... what happens to cause you to step out of faith?

and what is your religion(if you have one)?

And do they then get lost in a swamp of theological "nonsense" and call it "faith"?

for clarification, I am a Christian. The above question is in reference to an answer to a question I posed earlier today. I would like to know what both Christians and non believers think about this statement.
Do you agree or disagree and why?

thank you. :)

I’ve heard people say that the concept of a ‘God gene’ is ridiculous and that the key to removing religion from society is the children. Apparently, all it takes is for one generation of children to be raised with no mention of religion and once atheism has attained the majority, the age of religion will be dark history. I find this hard to believe because to me religion is so much like cancer – some people are just more likely to get cancer just like some people are more likely to allow their lives to be affected by absurd concepts with no proof. If a large number of children are chosen at random and raised without religion, then I think the more religiously inclined children will just invent a new religion like Scientology or Mormonism. Your thoughts?

Kings 2:23-24 (King James Version)

"And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them."

2 Kings 2:23-24 (New International Version)

New International Version (NIV)

"From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths* came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths."

*Youths contested by some as 18-20 year old adults.

So, which is the 'Word of God' and which is a fraud?

The child calls home telling you that songs you both once loved to sing together (think music by Pink Floyd, The Eagles, and even Chaka Khan) are "evil", and the child says to you,"Mamma, we have to start listening to Jesus music because your music is evil."

The kid has been there a total for 3 weeks, mind you.

Also, now certain programs you like to watch are evil too. Stuff like Robot Chicken, Family Guy, and even Good Times. Yep. The kid tells you these shows are all evil. Before he left, he enjoyed all these shows too. The child is about to be eight. The child also informs you in a phone conversation, "Mamma, you have to stop watching these bad shows, so you can be good. Okay?"

The grandmother has said nothing to you about any of this, she just acts all aloof and stoic on the phone, like she is less than pleased to be speaking to you whenever you do speak to her. Also, she is dragging your child to church 3x a week. Without your consent.

What do you do?
