I’ve heard people say that the concept of a ‘God gene’ is ridiculous and that the key to removing religion from society is the children. Apparently, all it takes is for one generation of children to be raised with no mention of religion and once atheism has attained the majority, the age of religion will be dark history. I find this hard to believe because to me religion is so much like cancer – some people are just more likely to get cancer just like some people are more likely to allow their lives to be affected by absurd concepts with no proof. If a large number of children are chosen at random and raised without religion, then I think the more religiously inclined children will just invent a new religion like Scientology or Mormonism. Your thoughts?

Yes, religion is like cancer, but stem cell research seems like a promising technology that just might hold the answer of how to cure and prevent cancer. christians are against it because they suffer from the delusion that a soul is contained within a blastocyst. It's mentally retarded notions like this that makes sensible, ethical, and truly righteous people suffer from the fact that we are out-numbered by the ignorant.

No, we're against it because it's abortion; they get the stem cells from embryos that would have developed and lived as people if given the chance. (We have a problem with it when they get the cells from murdered embryos, but I've heard of getting stem cells from people's lost primary teeth, and I don't see any problem with doing that.) The fact that you would compare religion with cancer is very offensive, plus there is no "cure" for religion, problems are the only things that have "cures"... perhaps religious people make you feel insecure? If you're going to rant, go do it on Myspace or something, because it doesn't belong here.

Don't confuse the neo-cons & leaders specific strategy with real Christianity-it's more like a regiment. I see nothing wrong with using something that will bring health or betterment to others. What some may be relating to is the stories of aborted babies organs sold to the rich for HIGH fees.

being a christian, i have no problem with stem cell research. someday i believe there will be cures for disease in such research. my problem is using aborted fetuses as a supply for juvenile stem cells. a better source would be cord blood which is loaded with stem cells, and no fetus has to face death to harvest such cells. the other problem i have is that juvenile stem cells have thus far shown no promise for anything. on the other hand adult stem cells have shown promise, and in fact have been used to fight a few diseases. the only reason the left wants juvenile stem cell research is to make the abortion debate null and void.

I am against Stem Cell research because it kills a living human being and has absolutely no success. I am for Umbilical-cord blood stem cell research because it does not kill a living human being and has had success.
There are no such things as god gene or even homosexual genes.Religion and homosexuality both are learned and not genetic.

Didn't feel like reading that.

How about we don't waste our time on Embryonic research? I mean, tests have been going on and no results have yielded from them. Adult stem cells have been proven to work and are providing much use. Why not bypass the controversy and go with what we know works?
