Is the Quran not as valid a text as the Bible? It also considers itself to be the word of God, so why is the Bible right and the Quran wrong?

An old friend of mine from High School who is an italian Christian one told me that the Catholic religion was based on guilt and fear. The more I thought about what he said and what the preachers say in their sermons, I realized he was on to something. It does seem like the preachers in church were always trying to lay a big guilt trip on his audience and scare us into running into the churches arms? So is Catholic religion based on guilt and fear?

I once was afraid to read my bible because if I read about something you shouldn't do it would make me paranoid and crazy cause of fear of sinning. And whenever i read about God's wrath even thoe I'm born again fear his wrath. I fear that I might be a backslider. or a person who over all doesn't liv the way jesus wants me to. I'm only 14 and I just started to have an active spiritual life. And i went through a spiritual battle for SEVEN months. I don't want to go through that again. But I want to be clser to God.

Do you believe in evolution?
Give your reasons and state your beliefs.
Don't quote the bible as it does not really give any proof.

What are they having faith in? Faith that were not just living life in vain? Ever notice how when people get really old and die, that people seem complacent all of a sudden. Will you have faith when your siblings stick you in an old folks home? Faith in what?

because I have never been in a situation like I am before. I am sorry I really don't know how to explain myself but I started working about 4 mths ago and my husband works plus has his own business, but for the last 2-3 mths we went downhill. All of a sudden we started to get behind on bills and don't have no money on hand. And no I don't go spending it on stupid stuff, my accts have gone negative, I got into two car accidents and then someone did a hit and run on my car and now my central air is not working. Please someone tell me if there can be an evil spirit or something? And if anyone knows how to get rid of it please tell me......

How many people have you blocked once you learned they were Atheist? We know many of you have done this. Can you not accept the fact, there are those who have very sound reasons for how they believe?

...Yahoo Groups?
Many of you here should go use it. Yahoo Groups is a place you can post all your opinions without having to wait for a question. Best of all you don't have to post a rant pretending it is a question just so you can try to prove something or preach at the rest of us! You can just rant all you want on Yahoo Groups!
Yahoo Answers is a question and answer forum. One person posts a question and others answer it.
So many of you in R&S post 'questions' which are actually statements that you put a question mark behind.

Note: a question mark DOES NOT make a statement into a question.

If you claim to be a member/believer/follower of religion X but you spend more time and energy fighting against religion Y than you do living religion X, is your religion really X or is it really Anti-Y?

Does the way you spend your time and energy reveal what's really in your heart?

So while scrolling through the religion and spirituallity section I came across this insightful piece of 'writting':

"...no other region in the known world believed in the real God but pagan Gods like Darwin the Almighty Darwin ahhaha wat a bowl of crap religion evolution is "

So my question is "Who out there thinks evolution is a religion?" and more importantly why?

Ok, my friend and I were arguing about the existence of a god or no god. We had a very nice argument going while I was explaining to him about some things against creationism... ANYWAYS; he ended his argument with this:

"Where there is creation there must be a creator... where there is design there must be a designer"

Now when I see this, and maybe it's just me, I see it as a bit contradictory. That can also imply that god (who couldn't have come from nothing) had to have been created as well... and the cycle would continue endlessly. And please don't give me the alpha and omega stuff... That doesn't even make sense. So really this isn't only geared towards christianity; it's more geared towards a higher power in general. All religions

So what I'm really asking is if you agree on that quote being worthy of a good argument against evolutionists(if that's even a real word) or if it's a poor argument?and why?

I know that most of us have heard stories about people having near death experiences. About tunnels and white lights, etc. I've been reading this book and it mentions a different side;
"There was a nurse who works in an emergency room tod me about a patient who had gone "code red"-flat lined. She and some other medical personell rushed over to the defibrillator to try to bring him back to life. They applied the paddles and revived him. She said the he started screaming and shouting, "The heat! The heat!" Then his heart stopped again. They brought him back a second time. He shouted "The flames! The flames!" They lost him again. Four times the man flat lined and was brought back, each time shouting about heat or flames. After the last time, he died and they couldn't bring him back. She said all the doctors and nurses stood there for a few minutes and stared at the body. They knew this man went to hell. He was screaming it to them before he even got out of here." -Continued-

" I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life; no man can come to the Father except through me".- Jesus

" I am the resurrection and the life; he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live ; and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die". - Jesus (Jn. 11:25)

" Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved". (Acts 4:12)

" God is patient and longsuffering, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance".

God Bless You! And Happy Eternity!

Many Christians sing "Give me that old time religion." Obviously, very few of them have Jewish roots. Just what religion did their pagan ancestors have before they became Christians. Some of it has survived in the form of witchcraft, folktales, fairy tales, and secular holidays. Some of these reconstructed religions are not very authentic. What were they really like?

I had a dream, possibly a couple, but I'm not sure. I dreamed that I was praying in salat. Just praying. Over and over again. I don't have anything distressing or stressful going on in my life. I just had a birthday and the past few days including today have been extra wonderful. So what can this dream mean? At the end of the dream (possibly a second dream), I dream that I've just had a baby and am so happy. It would be my third if that really happened, but I'm not planning on anymore children yet. What could this dream mean?
