orthodox priests must be married prior to the priest hood.
Catholic priests are generally unmarried however, there are those that were Protestant who have converted and were married prior to the conversion - they are thus now married Catholic priests.

Catholics do, for sure. I think it is radical for them to be prohibited from marriage because this was not in the original Catholic dogma. It was changed by a pope back around the 11th century. They thought it would be better if priests weren't married for several reasons they had including being "pure". So originally, they were allowed to marry. Some popes were sons of popes, so to me it makes no sense that they can't marry now.

The only churches that have actual priests are the Catholic Church and the Orthodox Churches. The Orthodox Churches and the Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church allow married men to become priests. The Latin Rite of the Catholic church does not usually allow married men to become priests at this time. It follows the biblical teaching that it is better for a fulltime minister of the faith to remain unmarried as Paul did, for a married man is divided between responsibilities to his wife and family, and responsibilities to his ministry. However, there are some married latin Rite Catholic priests, mainly Anglican or Episcopalian priests who have converted to Catholicism.
It is correct that Christ didn't command that His priests be married or unmarried. He left this and many other decisions up to the leaders of His Church, to whom He gave full authority, guaranteeing them that whatsoever they made binding upon earth is also binding in heaven.

Roman Catholic priests have to remain celibate.
This started in the 7th Century, because of sexual scandals.
There are a number of married priests who have converted;
they were priests or ministers in another church.
They can apply for & get a dispensation.
Orthodox priests remain celibate if they were unmarried,
before ordination, married priests cannot become bishops.
