What are they having faith in? Faith that were not just living life in vain? Ever notice how when people get really old and die, that people seem complacent all of a sudden. Will you have faith when your siblings stick you in an old folks home? Faith in what?

As Christians, we have faith and belief in God, that Jesus is our saviour, that He died for our sins to give us life and salvation, and that He is coming again to rapture us home. Jesus is our BLESSED HOPE. WE have faith that God knows everything and will bless us and keep us safe and HIs if we obey Him and love Him fully. WE have faith that Jesus is coming soon to take us home with Him.
Even if we go thru things in life that are difficult, we know they are temporary, and that soon we will go home with Jesus Christ, our saviour, to perfect paradise called Heaven, where there is no more sickness, sorrow or pain. NO MORE TEARS says God. We get our loved ones back.
By the way there is only one religion that is true. God says there is only one true , pure and undefiled relgion, that of the Holy Bible with the full teachings of Jesus Christ The others are all false religion and we are to flee from them. Not my words, but Gods. If you life for Jesus, you have life with joy and peace that passes understanding, and you know He is there to get you thru anything, that in the end He will stand in defense for you with God, that you can overcome sin by the power of the blood He shed upon the cross, you can have a victorious life right now , by being obedient to God, and then go on to Heaven to paradise. Much to have hope in, and yes we have strong, unmoveable faith, if we are truly GODS.

I think the main idea of the sort of faith you're talking about is believing not only that there is more to life than this life and that there is a greater consciousness that guides, decides our purpose and fate. But also trusting in what the church or books tells them they should believe when they have no proof or reason to believe.
You see, people touch upon things in themselves and in existence - evidence there must be more - just not enough to understand. They want answers. With the realization that they are not in control of anything beyond themselves - that they are powerless against the forces of nature/the universe... comes the need to feel that they are not helpless, that they have some control over their lives and world (or at least that they can appeal to someone who does)
Religion plays upon these fears and hopes. On the surface it offers answers, freedom, salvation to the masses - but in reality it's purpose is to harness and enslave them.

I am not a person of blind faith. I guess "people of faith" would say that I'm faithless because I need some evidences, personal experiences, and logic for a basis to have faith in maybe a little more than I know for sure. But deep doubtless belief in something that doesn't make sense, much less without any evidence whatsoever that it's true? No way. don't understand it.

Here's the way I see it:
Whatever truths were the initial inspiration for "faith", they have been corrupted by organized religions - turning faith and belief into poison - mental illness - a fettering and fouling of the mind.
If I remember right it was an Emperor of Rome? who concocted the original Bible (if there are any scholars/historians of religion out there, perhaps you can correct the title or place for me if my memory is faulty - you may even remember this dictators name.) At any rate ..... Rulers/dictators/people of power and wealth, took the beliefs, the faith, "the word" of the masses and (in cahoots w/well paid and/or threatened priests) created the "written" word, twisting into into a form of governing control over the masses called organized religion. (For example: the simple messages of Christ were twisted into the crusading, super rich, powerful hierarchy of the Catholic Church - giants of politics and organized crime.

It was pure genius, really. Just look how long religion has been a powerfully effective means of controlling and utilizing the strength of the masses! The main gist of it: Expand a belief/simple truth into a complicating, mess of rules, sins, evils, fears.... and salvation through abeyance to the priests (who carry out the wishes of the wealthy powerful leaders and/or for their own wealth/ power over the people.)

PS.. I don't have a lot of faith that I'll be so lucky as to have children or siblings that'll put me in a old folks home. Guess it would be a comfort to feel certain someone will be around to put me into a home in my old age. I expect nothing, therefore I'll be pleasantly surprised and grateful if I receive more than nothing.

Having strong faith in our Father ,Son, and Holy Spirit is the foundation of our belief....if you have a leader you don't trust or believe in , then you have nothing but...anger ,hate and resentment towards that person..because he's not done what he said he would do if you did what he ask you to do.....so we have a part to play here to, we don't just get saved..and everything is a bed of Roses till you die....as long as we are on this Earth as a Christian, or even a sinner....the Devil and his legend of followers are roaming this Planet searching for any one that is vulnerable , and everyone has some problems, some big some little and the devil likes to take advantage when a person is in the weakest state of mind. or when you aren't paying any attention just living your life...and unless you are a strong Christian..and know that you have power over the devil...he will make your life hell on earth...just like it is now...yes he's here and if you know what he looks like ,then you can see him every where.....and we are so easy a prey for him...no one has any morals any more their hearts or cold as ice, and they only think of themselves..and I'm talking mostly about this generation....and the one to came...is going to be even worse..if Christians don't realize the power we were given by Jesus at Pentecost...when before he ascended into Heaven....he told his disciples to go and teach other and for them to heal and cast out demons as he did and to do more and bigger things than what he had, and to make deciple out of others, to tell other ....but the people then and now, except for the very faithful believer's don't believe it..that we have all the same power as Jesus had...our biggest problem is we have no faith in God and even less in ourselves. If you don't believe you can do a thing..then you want do it , because you lack faith in yourself...you can't see a thing coming into existences.......for anything to work , Faith has to be present

every human has a body & a soul. The body lives on food which comes from earth or all edibles. but the soul needs a faith to live the life if that faith is misssing then the soul wanders aimlessly like miostly youth in the west commit suicide since they lack faith in everything & don't find a ray of hope to live further.
Faith in who we r & why we r here & what is the purpose of our life?
is it just to live like animals mean eat, drink , enjoy sex, or is there something more meaning ful way of life than this all trash.

Well, Fluffy (may I call you Fluffy?), my faith is grounded in the fact that my life is not governed by chance, but by One who really cares about my eternal destination.

And to answer question #2...yes, I will still have faith when I am in the "old folks home". I will have faith that soon I will be released from that old, wrinkled body, and find a glorified one waiting for me.

"Nothing is more characteristic of humankind than the natural and inescapable drive toward meaning and belonging, toward making sense of life and finding community in the world. As fundamental and precious as life itself, this 'will to meaning' finds expression in ultimate beliefs, whether theistic or non-theistic, transcendent or naturalistic, I call myself a person fo faith, what do i have faith in?...The Lord, i believe he is real and that when i die i will go to heaven and have eternal life, thats' what i have faith in, we are all living in vain, we all make mistakes, no one is perfect, that's what is so great about God, he forgives, we can do wrong things all our life and he will forgive you, if i were stuck in a old folks home, yes, i'd still have faith, i'd have faith that when i die there i'm going to heaven and my sickness will be gone and i know my kids only put me there because they have to have a life of there own.

they are called people of faith because they have faith and hope in a better life after they die, and faith that their God will guide them through their life before they die.

My ''religion'' isn't referred to as that, we call it a relationship. A relationship with our true God (the actual God that beared Jesus, and is in relation with the Holy Spirit)

Because of the dictionary meaning of the word faith.

the definition of faith is believing in something that you have no proof of. Believing in God is faith. Therefore, if you believe in any kind of God, you are a person of faith.

Calling them people of faith is more polite than committing them to the mental hospital--and cheaper!
